Last night's class was wonderful. Its difficult trying to learn choreography that people have been doing for 3 months, but I'm slowly picking more of it up. I'm really liking the tap routine that's new to me - its very syncopated.

Our costumes are going to rock! Its coming from here http://www.ciccidance.com/ , though alas, they don't have pics from the catalog on the site. I'm not sure if we'll be doing the ballet routines in the show or not yet which reminds me, I need to pick up the "Center Stage" movie soundtrack so that I can practice with one of the songs. Its a pop song - I've never done ballet to a pop song before (Peggy was ever the traditionalist).

I forgot how much fun I used to have in jazz class, and I'm looking forward to learning the routines well enough so that I can actually *dance* them. We're doing routines to "Wilkommen" from Cabaret, and "Blow Gabriel Blow" from Anything Goes. Both of these are past routines that Miss Peggy choreographed, the first I've seen before and loved but never learned, the second I performed sometime between age 13-15, I can't remember. This show will be in many ways a tribute to her, and we'll be repeating a lot of her classic routines. I can't wait to do the Happy Tap again (from "I want to be Happy" from No No Nanette) with the group. Its so fast that by the end of the routine our taps are burning hot from the friction on the floor.
