I'm tired, but its been a fun week. I wanted to bow out of trooping tonight but our numbers are just too small for that. There's a Red Sox game too. Fun.

On Wednesday we were at the Fenway theater to provider entertainment to patrons. http://masterreplicas.com/customer/index.php was there too, promoting their stuff and gave away a saber in a trivia contest. People started lining up for the movie at around 6:00 (!) and we were interviewed by New England Cable News, some Comcast Sports Network, and took thousands of pictures with random passerbys and SW theater goers. My brother went along and wore the Royal Guard costume (some college student even called him sexy in it - who would have thought?). I guess the showings hadn't sold out, so they sold us student rate tickets and let us get first pic of seats. So I've seen the movie 2x. So many things are going on that I was able to catch a few more details (like Padme wearing the same dress Leia first wears in ANH in her last scene, complete with buns on the side of her head).

On Thursday after a short rest and some sewing I headed out to Swansea to debut the Leia outfit. Its pretty decent aside from some issues with the collar that I'll need to deal with, and I learned that putting my hair in buns when they are wet and using good quality hair elastics and lots of bobby pins makes all of the difference. There we were interviewed by ABC Channel 6 (in RI/Southestern MA) and chatted with their correspondent about a future volunteer opportunity at an urban teen summer camp. Our group entertained theater goers complete with a moving, talking R2-R9 http://www.r2-r9.com/ droid, a chewbacca, and a whole host of costumed peeps. The theater comped us for tickets but I had to head home (after being there 10 hours). We raised around $200 for the theater's in-house charity by raffling off items which was cool, and seemed to make the day fun for a lot of local families and theater employees. I'm amazed how many little kids are going to see this movie - it is SW but it has earned its PG13 rating! The best part I think was an excited 8 year old boy dressed like Darth Vader who pointed and yelled "I'M YOUR FATHER" excitedly. Second were 2 kids of a group member asking me "where is your stormtrooper blaster" challengingly (answer: its in Las Vegas with my TK husband).

Pics to follow :)

heh. I wore my trooper groupie shirt wed night and got more than a few questions about it (I did wear the white boots, but not the empire regulation skirt) heh. My hair was a mix of ep2 and hoth leia.
Anyways, people seemed interested in finding out more about hte rebel legin and the 501st. my fav was a colege student saying that her 15 yr old brother has been *really* wanting to be in the 501st, but since he was still growing couldn't get a trooper outfit. I suggested... he could be an officer, or an imperial gunner... or or. or... i realized then just kind of geek I am when offering costuming ideas for an organization I don't belong to! What a Groooooopie!! ;)
heh. If your numbers are low, and need a groupie let me know. I don't have plans tonight- I don't think though I'd wear the short white skirt- just a little too sktchy and likely not appropriate given the age range and venue. But those boots are really comfy.

Have a wonderful weekend!!! and may the force be with you. (nice comfortable roomy force, not episode 1 clone trooper helmet kind of force) ;)
dorky and quite silly,
-K

The 15 year old can't join - for liability reasons and per Lucas Films people have to be 18+ (alas).

As for tonight, we'll be there basically from around 6PM till Midnight. If you want to go call Brian's cell before then. Parking is going to be the suck (Red Sox Game) so if you want to car pool come by our place by 6:00 at the latest :)
