dancerjodiI'll be going on Sunday afternoons for a bit to take beginner Flamenco classes with Nepenthe01 at the Dance Complex. This should be fun! I'm hoping they let me just wear my tap shoes (rather than getting Flamenco shoes). That's a bit of an investment for just a fun summer for the hell of it thing. I can handle buying castanets (where?) and have a good deal of skirts from bellydance I should be able to wear there too.
Last night a woman in my class asked if any of us wanted to take African dance classes on Mondays once our own bellydance session was done. Hmm. Another friend asked if I'd take Hula with her at some point, I keep saying I'm going to go Irish dancing with the Tiggerette some Monday, and the little old Scottish woman at the store in Porter invited me to the Scottish country dancing Mondays.
Gotta love it!
I think I'm going to continue to focus on ballet/tap/jazz and do other stuff for fun on the side. Hence, I think I may end up sticking with the teachers I've had in bellydance given their informalness but I'll try and get out there more at workshops, haflis, etc. I've enjoyed the meditative/spiritual aspect of it, and I need to keep reminding myself that I'm not doing it as seriously as I've done other dance. If funds permit this week after paying bills I'll sign up for some things in July . . .
