I finally checked out the Jazz/Bellydance fusion DVD from Suhaila Salimpour. I did enjoy it and may consider buying it. A few comments on the experience:
-This is supposed to be a beginner workout? I found both the bellydance and jazz to be things beginners may have a hard time picking up.
-A ballet background would be helpful too. She references a lot of ballet moves (aka in French), though does them in parallel, like as you would in jazz (jazz is based on ballet, turned parallel or in ala Fosse).
-There were 2 fast routines. Not bad (and I didn't have problems picking them up).
-Such neat stuff! It showed that I need a lot of work on layering bellydance moves while moving around the floor (I don't seem to have problems layering diff moves in the body if I'm in one place - dancing around, that's another story!)
