Its Friday finally. We'll see friends tonight and hang around the house (I totally forgot it was eXmortis, and made other plans - oops!).

Hedwig is happy with her clean vacumed floors, washed outside, and oil change, fluid top off, tires balanced and all of the other goodies that Saturn does as a part of an "oil change". Its seeming like getting things covered under warranty will be kind of complicated anywhere I take her (even if I go to a Chevy dealer) so I'll just have to play that by ear if and when the time comes. In the whole time I had my Saturn there was 1 repair that had a tiny portion covered by the warranty. That's what I get I guess from buying the car through a nontraditional way (from an Enterprise Auto, rather than a true dealer).

Driving in this morning I jumped around on the Ipod with Peter Murphy, Queen and Queensryche. You know, every time I hear Bohemian Rhapsody I can't get through the song without banging my head at the end ala Waynes World? I just can't do it! I'd love for "We Will Rock You" to come to Boston - it was such a great show!

Have a great weekend peeps, and I'll see some of you over the next couple of days. :)

That just reminded me that there is an entire Queen-themed gift shop at Paris in Las Vegas. Seriously, everything in the store is Queen. Bizarre.

Wow! What does Queen have to do with Paris (like, why that hotel over others).

I'll definitely need to check it out whenever we finally get there! :)

Ah, they have a Queen shop because the musical is being shown at Paris?

You know, I haven't a clue. I didn't know there was a musical until I saw the store, but my guess would be that that's correct. I can look it up, though.

Don't worry about looking it up - if its there when I get to Vegas, I'll find it. :)

The musical was a lot of fun. It was created by former Queen members, all music is from Queen.

The storyline is basically about a very oppressive futuristic world where everything is run by some company called "Globalsoft". Music, dance, the arts, etc are all regulated and basically aren't allowed (save for canned corporate entertainment), and everyone dresses the same. The main character keeps hearing music and song lyrics in his head, and can't figure out what's going on. He meets up with another woman who is kind of an outcast, because she doesn't fit (or want to) fit in with the Globalsoft lifestyle. They end up finding a bunch of squatters that have scrounged up proof of past music (posters, shirts, record jackets) that are dedicated to keeping it alive (its a riot, because they take on names of artists that they've found, having never heard their music or knowing what its about - like there is this huge butch black guy named "Britany Spears"). The rest is about this couple and their friends fighting "the man", trying to bring the music back.

Its a totally ridiculous storyline, but its cool how they worked the songs into the show. Its kind of a young/urban/rock-based musical (like along the lines of Rent) with good music, which was the only reason that Brian enjoyed it so much. :)

WWRY in Boston

Oh. Oh my.

That would make me so undescribably happy. I have been dying to see the show ever since I heard about the plans to create it. Alas, life has not brought me to London or Vegas to see it yet.

I keep hearing plans for NYC. Since Robert DeNiro's TriBecA did back the production, I had assumed it would hit NYC before Vegas.

But I will see it. Oh yes, one day I will. :)

That would be cool! It would be worth a long daytrip or a weekend to see it again :)

The soundtrack is definitely entertaining, though a lot of the music from the show isn't on it. Its also tough to get the feelings of the show (the story, the humor) from the soundtrack alone.

When we were in London last spring we wanted to catch a show. Since I'm more of the musicals fan than Brian, we thought We Will Rock You would have been a good middle ground kind of show. Boy were we happy we decided to do that! The music was great, show was interesting, and at the end they did a huge version of Bohemian Rhapsody. Its the first time I've been at the theater for a show like this and saw audience standing in their seats, singing out loud, and banging their heads. The lead character (the guy that ended up on the INXS contest) had a good bit of fan girls in the audience too, so weird! :)
