I thought that they had gone down there as a lark, and that the Pub's owner would not agree to let them close the pub to the public... But the guy who wrote the article claims that pub owner was reneging on some previously arranged deal....

I just skimmed the photo captions and read small bits of the article - but I did catch that pub bit! :)
Given how planned out the whole thing was, I'd be shocked to see them just show up at a pub like the original stories stated (so I'd lean more in the direction of the Vogue article being more accurate myself).
