The rules of this game: List five quirky facts about yourself (I'm not tagging anyone else, but feel free to post the same in your LJ)

1. I was born and married in the year of the rabbit, and have been in love with the little lagamorphs since birth.

2. I used to rollerskate a lot when I was a kid, so when the blading craze took off I had a difficult time getting used to a back brake. I finally bought myself some quad skates this morning on e-bay. They're the first ones I'll be wearing since the time of junior high trips to the Wallex (I wore an old pair of Mom's skates that were super fast due to their wheels made of some kind of stone, versus the rubbery plastic the cheapie mainstream newer skates were).

3. I hate to shop.

4. Two albums remind me of sitting in my room and working on research papers in my freshman year of college: The Smiths "Louder than Bombs" and the 10,000 Maniacs "In My Tribe".

5. Green is my favorite color, though I own a surprisingly small amount of green clothing.

I finally bought myself some quad skates this morning on e-bay.

that's so awesome! yaaay for rollerskating! i go to regular rink skates pretty frequently (there's a great 18+ on on thursday nights and 21+ at Chez Vous on sundays) and am hoping to do some outdoor skating once the weather gets nicer. i'll keep you posted in case you want to join me!

1. Of the 3 vehicles I have ever owned, two have been Chevy S-10's. I may need a new truck soon and it may be a Chevy S-10.

2. I know dozens of obscure quotes from the 1980's version of the movie "Dune" and can recite most of the movie from memory. It is not my favorite movie.

3. I don't like to drink tea (or any hot drink) while there is a lid on it. Even on disposable tea cups, I prefer to take the lid off.

4. I love bubblegum grunge music. Veruca Salt, That Dog, Letters to Cleo, etc...

5. When I leave a door open by accident, and people snap "Were you raised in a barn?", I can say "Yes". (although sometimes it's more effective to moo at them)

I'd love to join you sometime! I'm sure a bit rusty, but it will be nice to get rolling again.

Of course, my skates are probably weenie in comparison to yours :). I bought some Sketchers ones because I'm not planning on doing derby in them, I find the sneakers themselves pretty comfy, and I noticed some of the TXRD gals wear them when just skating around outside for workouts (so they can't be all that bad qualitywise). If its good enough for Sister Mary Jane, I think its fine for me just getting my butt moving around my neighborhood! :)

You should check out the band Damone. They are from Waltham, friends of my brother and definitely bubblegum rock/grunge! :)

1. I was involved in almost no fights after I began martial arts training. To this day, it seems like I am able to avoid them, or people think twice about engaging me physically. I guess it worked like it was supposed to :-)

2. My favorite foods on earth are creamy cheesie foods, and although I have a particular fondness for cheesecake, I almost never eat it because of the sugar.

3. I always want to go Karaoke. I never do. :-(

4. I can do a really good singing imitation of Peter Gabriel. While I was practicing this in a recording studio (I was 2nd engineer at the time) during equipment tuning in the live room, one of the band members of Naked RayGun asked if I could do additional backups on a song of theirs, but 'grungier'. The lead engineer sneered and chuckled as I took up the microphone... and completely blew them away with my 'punk rock' singing voice. :-) I didn't get any credit on the album tho. Ah well.

5. My favorite color is also green, and I own about 6 pieces of green clothing. The only ones I wear at all is a sweater handknitted by me wife and a button down shirt I wear about every 6th office day.

you'll get your "skate legs" back quickly. it's amazing how quickly.

and who cares about the skates? if they're for recreation, it doesn't really matter what you have as long as they're durable and they roll! i know folks who use the Sketchers ones too. just be sure to have some pads if you're going to skate outdoors. going down on asphalt sure does suck!
