We cooked dinner for the first time in a week last night (albeit, it was just some chicken prosciutto ravioli, nothing complicated). Its nice getting back to a bit of normal. At around dinner time though, we got some bad news. Its nothing that really impacts us directly, but its sad nonetheless. Its not surprising, but still sad.
Home Depot provided a distraction. We needed to pick up some paint for my new bucket (the AT-AT one I have currently is too heavy - 7 lbs - and Brian picked up an ABS kit that will be a bit lighter). You know, they are still sold out of carbon monoxide detectors? How's a homeowner supposed to be compliant with the new MA law? We also did some talking about repairing our back deck. We'll start ripping it apart on Sunday and see what's inside and what is needed (though a look last night seemed to indicate that it may just need a new stringer on the left side, new decking and new steps (rather than a whole new rebuild). On the lazy front, we're pondering calling http://www.collegepro.com/ to do the scraping, priming and painting of both front and back porches (just white). I'm usually not one to pay someone to do what I can do myself, but I'm not loving the effort that will be required. I figure, we can get it cleaned up and nice looking, and worry about shutters, trim color, etc later on. We'll be in FL at Disney over Memorial Day, so April/early May is what we've got to work with in terms of getting the outside ready for summer enjoyment.
We closed the eve watching http://www.mattbusch.com/conjure/ . Brian had bought it from the artist to support him, and to enter for a drawing to win original Star Wars artwork. It turns out that he did get the artwork (score), but we weren't nuts about the movie (eh). Of course, it did provide a lot of amusement, and it was neat learning a bit about Matt Bush.
