Here's the pics from the MC Chris show this weekend - there are some really funny ones in there. EJ did a great job!

Brian and I realized a while ago that we've been earning points through our bank that are good for various things (travel, gift cards). After investigating using the credit towards our Dragoncon hotel and learning we couldn't (the hotel was too fancy for that, and the credit wasn't accepted there) we decided to get Best Buy gift cards and get a new widescreen TV. After Brian did some research and learned that we'd still need to throw in a good deal of $ for him to get the kind of TV he wanted (and, this TV thing was all Brian anyway, I was fine with the one we had) he proposed doing something else. We got me a new iPod! Its a 30 gig iPhoto. We also got ourselves a couple of iHome things (player w/ speakers to dock the ipods into) and I got a nifty black leather case for it with little bright green leaves on it. I have one of the iHomes at work now, and we have one in our bedroom (which means we'll have an alarm clock on each side of the bed and won't have to share/reset).

Weird - I have a tech toy that's cooler than Brian's! I can't get over how thin this thing is compared to his (let alone my first generation one). I loaded the music I wanted and still have more than half capacity left . . . its a far cry from the 5 gig I'm used to with the neutered battery!

Still no more pics on the cat front. Jayne is getting very affectionate with us now, and is being more interactive with Mal, so that's a good thing. He's still a bit skittish, but I'm sure he'll break out of it soon. In a couple of days I want to let them explore the basement and move their litterbox down there (the shelter suggested keeping it first on the first floor until they adapted). We've been used to using the expensive recycled paper litter that Max required, so using the plain cheapo clay stuff has been a different experience. I think I may want to try out the clumping stuff, because though its more expensive I've been completely changing the box every other day, and I'm almost through the first bag we bought!

I have a suggestion on the litter if you find you don't love the clumping litter either. We get Feline Pine, and it's fantastic with the two cats. It keeps the odor way, way down, and there's not much in the way of litter being tracked through the house. I've used crystals, clay, clumping litter...everything but the recycled newspaper...and I doubt I'll ever switch away from this stuff.

Got a BJ's card? Their clumping cat litter is the BEST. Doesn't have a perfumey smell, just a slight fresh one; has small pebbles, not big onces, isn't too dusty (they're ALL duty, even the ones that claim to be dustless); clumps and scoops wonderfully. The best part? 40 lbs for $7.00! I change the whole thing once a month (I've got 4 cats), just scoop daily and freshen with more litter and some enzymatic powder.

If you don't have a BJ's card, let me know and I'll pick you up a box so you can try it. If they ever stop making that stuff I'm going into mourning.

The Feline Pine stuff didn't work for me. It just got soggy and smelled like pine-scented urine. And one cat didn't like the hard pellets on her paws and refused to go in it. Maybe the smell got her too.

Funny how what works for one person is terrible for another. :-)
