I've been on the search for an inexpensive metal radiator cover for a couple of months. It will go into the den where our bunnies run around, so wood is no good (they'd chew it), and custom metal ones in that size run over $200. I finally found one on Craigslist today for $75. Its gold, so it probably needs some painting, but its still quite a deal! Once its in we'll build some shelves over it (to match the other shelves that we've put into that room) and our DVDs will move to those shelves, freeing up space for a small chair where our current particle board shelf (which took some water damage from said radiator in the winter) lives. Here's a pic of that wall now (the radiator is under the bag of carefresh litter, you can't see it in the picture):

Of course, I'm taking a scenic drive up to Merrimack, MA (near Lawrence) after work to get it. Yes, I'll be sitting in that nasty 93 North rush hour traffic until I get to 495, and who knows what joys will await me there. Ah well, I can deal with it for a $100+ savings. I'll have my iPod to entertain me!

And then I'll be on the search for a small rocking chair that fits well in that corner and isn't so fancy that I'd cry if the bunnies munched on it. :) I've always wanted one.

There is a place in Somerville/Cambridge (near between Inman and Somerville Ave.) that sells used radiators of ALL kinds. You may want to check them out...

They just shut down the eastbound ted williams tunnel, so traffic is likely to be even worse than usual tonight.

We actually need to get one of those. A small one for the radiator in Fasolaki's room.

I'd say, keep checking Craigslist for them (I had to measure my radiator and keep the info handy and with a few months of searching found one). :)

The person I bought mine from had some smaller (taller, thinner) ones for sale too, so you may want to compare to what you're looking for. They were the generic metal ones and it was in good shape (albeit old with a tiny bit of rust, but nothing structural). A couple of coats of gloss rustoleum, and the thing will be good as new! :)
