Its been a good one - just the kind of thing we needed.
On Friday we spent time around the house to keep an eye on Mal. Our porch is painted, my Mara Jade costume is sold (more on that below) and I got to see the Tiggerette and watch Goonies and knit. It was quite decadent.
Yesterday felt even more decadent. We had breakfast at the Towne Diner in Watertown, headed up to Salem so that Brian could pick up some things he needed, walked around a bit, went to Porter Square so that Brian could get a new (to him - it was a used one) kilt, since he's lost so many inches his don't fit anymore. After all of that we headed home for productivity - our craft room (soon to be our bedroom) is all safely wired, with holes in walls patched and plastered (the first coat anyway). We picked up paint for that room, and in a week or so it could be finished and we could be in there. Mal was doing well but quite oozy yesterday, so we attempted to clean him (with gentle warm baby-soapy water). After his evening antibiotics that kind of knocked him out we walked down Moody to Tom Can Cook for dinner, walked up to Main to check out the new Ice Cream place next to Cafe on the Common (so good), and headed home to keep Mal company for the rest of the night. I feel so bad for him - its driving him nuts being stuck in that room and being unable to clean himself. Still, its for the best.
I have plans this afternoon, but will get some house stuff done today (painting our 1st floor bathroom door) and here's hoping Brian will have time to finish plaster in the craft room/soon to be bedroom *and* finish up that TK set he's been working on. I've been amazed at how much stuff we've been getting done; it feels good after so many things were sitting for so long. When we finish the bedroom we can take some pics and post of what has been done (porch painting, new downstairs bathroom, new upstairs bedroom).
RE Mara Jade, the other night Brian and I were talking about SW costumes, and I told him I had been thinking of selling her. I haven't worn it since Free Comic Book Day in 2005, because I'm just not into the character (though it is a very cool costume). I've been thinking of chipping away (with Brian) on a Zam Wessel, because I could get into her character, and just think having a movie cannon costume would get me more bang for my buck. Someone from the NEG came by on Friday to try it on and bought it, so it will be staying in the family again (so to speak). Now, we had thought we'd put that $300 toward Zam on Sunday night, but then Mal Madness happened on Monday, so we'll be using it for more important things (like house expenses). But - I will get one of those costumes at some point. I have the AT-AT driver and female Tusken to keep my imperial self happy in the meantime, and that's plenty for me. If my brother does end up putting together a Jango costume like he's thinking of working on, it would be cool to have a brother-sister Jango and Zam team, don't you think?
