Last night's dance class was a great one. People were prompt, classes started on time, and it seems like everyone is refreshed from the summer break and ready to get down to business. The two tap routines (3?) we started were neat, and the jazz seems like it will be a lot of fun. Its a very smooth almost soft-shoe like jazz to "Delovely" by Cole Porter. This version is from the recent movie soundtrack (versus "Anything Goes" directly) which reminded me, I still haven't seen it. I need to bump it up on my netflix list. I had finished reading the front half of my Tap Encyclopedia (and flipped through the back glossary bit) and I made copies of the history of tap dance section to leave for people at the studio. I'm on to my next book, finally giving "Love in the Time of Cholera" a chance (picking it up from the library tonight).

Post class I headed home to spend some time with Brian in the den and watch Dancing with the Stars. This season's performers seem to be a bar above the last, with not too many being totally uncoordinated. I'm very surprised with how well Jerry Springer is doing. I'm not a fan of reality TV but I love talent shows - particularly dance. I think its a throwback to my formative TV years of Dance Fever, Solid Gold, Community Auditions and Star Search. :)

I learned this morning that contrary to what I thought, I'm NOT eligible for free lifetime membership using WW online (there is something about that on a FAQ section on the site). This is 6 weeks that I've been within my goal range. I decided today to cancel membership to the site, so I won't have that resource directly anymore. I think I'll still be fine with keeping up on things via other nutritional websites, peeking into Brian's computer from time to time, and the cookbook we have. I'm still planning on weighing myself each Wednesday just to monitor things, and if I start to slide I'll know to keep on top of it at the time (I tend to gain a bit of weight over the fall and winter normally anyway, but don't want to go nuts with it).

This week starts concert craziness: Journey/Def Leppard this week, Megadeth next, Iron Maiden after that. Its already going to be a busy fall, and I've held off on making plans on some things so that stuff wouldn't be too crazy. :)

WW Question

Do you happen to know if WW has allowances for breastfeeding mothers? Avon and I were thinking about joining, but if they don't allow for breastfeeding, we will have to wait a while.

I'm not sure if WW allows for breastfeeding Moms. I'd assume so, because its a very women-centric program (like, their weight ranges for men are all wrong, because they use the same BMI guide as for women). If you poke around on their website, perhaps you may find something?

I think there's also some WW livejournal communities you could also ask on. I've heard of lots of new Moms joining . . . I'm just not sure how they figure breastfeeding into it.

My coworkers were on WW and were breastfeeding. You need to wait a few months after the child's birth to ensure your milk supply. Then you are given extra points. Be on that, I have no extra info.

can you tell me about these other nutitional sites? I'm cancelling WW as soon as the three months are done. I have found that I don't use their recipe thinguie, and now that I'm finally lifting again the points thinguie no longer works for me. I need to keep track of my protein, my carbs, etc.

I've always used http://foodcount.com/ . I know there's probably better ones out there, but this has served my needs pretty well.

I'm also saving a list of my WW favorites and their points value, kind of an easy/quick way for me to gage what I'm doing.

And, I created an excel spreadsheet with formulas to calculate WW points (based on calories, fat and fiber) in case I want it later. You could do something similar if you google for the formula . . .
