Just a small town girl . . .
Sep. 24th, 2006 07:05 pmThe Journey Def Lepard show was great! I'm so glad that I went, and Sean and I have figured out that we'll be good cheezy music buddies for many shows to come.
There were A LOT of people there, and the average age was probably 5-10 years older than me. People were super excited and into Journey, including the 12 guys we were lucky enough to be sitting behind that slapped every five all night, danced around like maniacs in their spots, and played much air guitar on each others legs. They played mostly old stuff, so I was all good (I don't know anything that's not on their greatest hits album). The singer does sound a good deal like Steve Perry, but I agree with Julishka, that the drummer sounded better when he sang. :)
Def Lepard sounded good too, though they were less exciting. The crowd didn't seem as pumped, but perhaps that's just a result of their less than anthem vibe on songs. They looked just like they walked out of one of their 80's videos and sounded like it too. It was neat to see them, and I'm surprised how much of their songs I knew, never having owned an album.
Next up: Megadeth this weekend (Gigantour) and Iron Maiden next weekend.

Date: 2006-09-25 03:28 pm (UTC)probably if you guy had been back into the section a bit, the intensity might have been better (although the meathead aspect woud still have remained - see below). when joe elliot kept yelling for people in back to stand up, we couldn't understand why, since everyone in our section was.
lots of people left after journey, though.
we had "that guy" yelling stuff behind us. "joe, you ROCK!" "get rid of that british flag guitar, fuck the queen, this is the US!" um...ok.
afterwards, there was a woman running around parking lot B nekkid. she shouldn't have been nekkid.
