Brian and I had originally planned to go the the NH Highland Games yesterday, so we turned down a few social engagements, determined to finally check it out. After finding out the cost, hearing reports of bad weather and having not spent a lot of time together recently we decided to do something else (but still involving just the two of us, and something in nature). We had thought a general trip to the White Mountains would be neat but since we're planning on going in late October anyway and I had a late night at the Journey show, we decided to stay local.
We finally checked out the ROCK ON exhibit at the Garden in the Woods http://www.newfs.org/garden.htm which was very cool. I haven't been to that place in years, and the last time I went I couldn't really enjoy it, because Brian kept grumbling about how he was bored (he was also terribly out of shape at the time, and the one mile, sometimes hilly walk was seriously a challenge for him). We both enjoyed it quite a bit yesterday, both having different perspectives on life than at the last visit. After having lunch at Lotus Flower we headed on our annual pilgrimage for apples, cider donuts and visiting the animals at Honey Pot Hill http://www.honeypothill.com/ . Over the years they get busier and busier, and we've moved on from picking apples to just purchasing some (the size bag they make you buy for picking is way more apples than we can use. This year all cider donuts are sold out of the baked goods window (none are sold inside of the store anymore) so we stood in line for about a 1/2 hour just to pick up our small 1/2 dozen bag. SO good though!
It was a nice day for us to just take our time, enjoy the New England fall and talk about a lot of things that have been ongoing for us. Brian also took pictures of things that didn't involve Star Wars Costumes or props for the first time in a long time! Check them out:

We ended the night finally watching Delovely - so great! It reminded me in a lot of ways of All That Jazz in that its biographical (though, Fosse made All That Jazz on his own), though the emphasis was on Porter's love for his wife and his music over Fosse's love for debauchery. It was also more coherent and retrospective about Porter's life, where All That Jazz has a bit of a psychedelic vibe to it. There was a heavy emphasis on his songs from the show Anything Goes, which I can't really complain about (it was the only musical I did in high school where I had a singing and dancing role - I was one of Reno Sweeney's Angels). I'm going to pick up the soundtrack on netflix this week budget willing; a bunch of Porter classics were done by modern singers (including Alanis Morrisette, Cheryl Crow and Natalie Cole).
