Yesterday was payday, and I picked up some things i've been waiting weeks for.

These came out on Tuesday:
-That 70's Show Season 5 Boxed Set: I'm almost done with season 4
-A Twisted Christmas: For their 30th anniversary Twisted Sister does heavy metal versions of your favorite Christmas songs, including "I'll be Home for Christmas" duet with Lita Ford and their own "Heavy Metal Christmas" based on the 12 Days of Christmas: 1 tattoo of ozzy, 2 spandex pants, 3 studded belts, 4 tattered t-shirts, etc . . .
-The Muppets, A Green and Red Christmas: it leans in a jazz/soul direction which I like, and which is different for the muppets. Some of the character's voices are off (what can you expect, voice actors can't live forever) but some of the songs made me laugh out loud, like Pepe's "Merry Christmas Baby" and The Swedish Chef's "Christmas Smorgasbord". So cute!

After dinner we headed out to the Newbury/Boylston Street area. It was nice weather for walking, and we had a $20 Virgin Records gift card to use up before the store goes away. They are quite picked over, so we ended up with a really interesting assortment of things:
-Original King Kong DVD (the new restored version)
-3 disk Rick Springfield comp (hey, it only cost $5 and Jessie's Girl was my most favorite song when I was like 8 years old!)
-2 disc Mary Poppins anniversary soundtrack: I wanted this anyway, in preparation for seeing it with R after Thanksgiving at The Regent Theater for the sing along. My Mom had an awesome suggestion for dressing up - Suffragettes! I'll make banners for R and I to wear, and maybe we'll be able to pull together some Victorian clothing. I did some poking on e-bay for authentic (antique) banners, but had no luck. There were a good amount of pins on there though, and I think it may be neat to pick one up at some point.

They didn't have the new Arch Enemy album (shocking!) so Brian grabbed that at Newbury Comics, and we had ice cream at Emack and Bolio's before heading home for other things. I tell you, Newbury Street just gets more fabulous as time goes on. I miss the crusty people that used to hang out down near Tower, and Allston Beat, and that element. I'm just not cool enough.

Anyway, for today's quote of the day I bring you

We're clearly soldiers in petticoats
And dauntless crusaders for woman's votes
Though we adore men individually
We agree that as a group they're rather stupid!

Cast off the shackles of yesterday!
Shoulder to shoulder into the fray!
Our daughters' daughters will adore us
And they'll sign in grateful chorus
"Well done, Sister Suffragette!"

From Kensington to Billingsgate
One hears the restless cries!
From ev'ry corner of the land:
"Womankind, arise!"
Political equality and equal rights with men!
Take heart! For Missus Pankhurst has been clapped in irons again!

No more the meek and mild subservients we!
We're fighting for our rights, militantly!
Never you fear!

So, cast off the shackles of yesterday!
Shoulder to shoulder into the fray!
Our daughters' daughters will adore us
And they'll sign in grateful chorus
"Well done! Well done!
Well done Sister Suffragette!"
