They are very cool looking, but in reality (from experience) they are kind of boring, because he's right that you can't turn your head, the force pike is such a silly weapon, and they can't do much beyond follow the Emporer or Vader around. :)
I actually just spent a half hour going back and reading a bunch of them. My GOD, they're funny. Yeah, what exactly do the Royal Guards DO? I don't ever remember seeing one kick ass.....
