We've changed our minds, again. We're thinking that instead of going to MD/DC in the fall we'll go to Vegas. I'd love to see friends and check out the faire, but we both thought that doing something more frivolous and vacation-like would be a better vacation. My guess is this would be a mid-week thing so that we could secure lower hotel room rates. Time TBD, but I'm thinking maybe early October (we'll have a bit of a recovery from Dragoncon, but it won't interfere with Halloween or fall holiday activities).

Now to figure out what to do and where to stay . . .

ooo! while i am bummed i can't blame you - vegas was AWESOME. :) if you want tips let me know, since we were just there and hit just about every hotel at least once i can tell you which ones are nice and which to avoid! :)

Since you're flexible date wise, I suggest starting to poke around now. Orbitz and Hotwire have package deals every once in a while, which will be worth it for airfare alone. Also, the AAA travel site was great as a resource and occasionally has packages too.

I have up to date books, if you want to borrow, along with a map. I'm happy to squee about some more when you're looking at details, now that I've had a look see at the real thing.

I'm considering saving up for a pop across the pond for Whitby myself, around the same time. We'll see.

The Hilton wasn't all that great, and it's a wee bit off the strip. Although Quarks was cool. I stil have to show off the pictures of my Warp Core Breach!

i have to agree with that - the north strip is sort of desolate now that the stardust and the sands are knocked down, while they build the new places. the frontier's last day is july 16th, and circus circus is the land of broken dreams. :P

the star trek experience is awesome, as are the warp cores - a friend of mine just made me my own cat macro, featuring me drinking one :P

If you want tickets to any shows let me know. I can't score you free-bees, but I can get you discounted rates for some shows through my friends. I have friends working "O", La Reve, Love and a couple others I can't think of off the top of my head, plus I know a few club promotors so if you have a pervers need to go to one of the big clubs out here I may be able to get you in the door for free. too bad you'll be coming after I move. wanna stop by Austin on your way? *grin*

Beyond shows and such on strip..

Really suggest renting a car (dollar rental car is stupid cheap) and driving out of LV to some of stuff around the area

When I went to RedRock (20 min out of LV) Went to another place just beyond called "Little Nevada". A wild west themed place, they have some performances on weekend, during my trip, they had a "Hanging" with a guy who they really put noose on and dropped the floor (hidden safety line), Also went on a 45 min trail ride, and fun petting zoo.
