This is the couch we're thinking of getting in the new year, money willing:

What color? I love the bright green and blue, but I'm wondering if something more neutral would be good - who knows how we'll want to paint and decorate that room over the years. The dark brown? Tan? Gray? I'm leaning in the direction of the dark brown.

Here's the colors in the room now (except we have bright green curtains and that new TV shelf - the new wall shelves over the TV mimic the ones along the longer wall - same brackets/stain - its an old pic because our old radiator cover is still in it):

i think if you go with blue, it'd be too much blue for the room. what did you end up doing for the window curtains? i seem to recall you gave away the blue velvet ones?

a neutral or light color will get dirty fast. i'd probably go for the dark brown.

The new green curtains may be sufficient to make the blue sofa stand out. The brown is so dark, I think it would make the space look cramped. If there was a medium tone brown, I think that would be perfect!

The blue and green will both go fabulously with your current tiki theme, I think the red would too. The green I think works best for the current wall color, but it's so light I'd definately scotch guard against stains. The blue would blend as opposed to pop, but it's such a fabulous color! The green may be prefect now, but I think the blue may actually be the better choice for versatility and longevity. The brown may be more neutral, but it's so dark I think it would sap up the space in the room and look too large for the space.

Looks Roomy :)

I could see either of the grey colours working with the blue but the brown might go better...

I love the color of those walls now. And for the couch, brown would look great. So would gray. And you can always put large cheap (well, inexpensive) king size throws over the centers to protect the material, since you'll all be hanging out there a lot with friends and food. This way you get to change the feel from season to season, going lighter in the spring/summer, and darker more dramatic and cozy in the cold months. Brown would be good as a base for going either way. So would gray. Oh, decisions decisions! :-)
