No! It's a completely different ending from the book. The book leaves everything open, but in the movies, that would mean a sequel. So no sequel means that the ending has to change to eliminate that possibility.
I can't really watch any kind of horror movies and I had read the book, but when my friend saw it in the theatres she was as pissed off as I would have been.
