Back to normal

Yesterday's quote of the day from the Intranet: "Happiness is not a matter of events; it depends upon the tides of the mind." - Alice Meynell

Things are going to be weird for a while. My boss actually sent me home from work yesterday afternoon (she said "listen, I was a MESS when my dog died AND you found out that you lost the bid on the house. GO HOME"). I spent the afternoon hanging out with Praline and Max and looking up house listings online. Though I did all of the reading for tonight's class, I didn't have it in me to sit at the computer for a few hours and type up my weekly paper - I just e-mailed the professor and told him that due to family obligations I wouldn't be able to get to it until Thursday.
We'll be OK - its not the first time that I've lost a pet, it was just very sudden. Happy memories of our little "Floopie Man" have been keeping me going. Praline is going to take a while to get back to normal since right now she doesn't trust us as much. It seems as she WANTS to get close and snuggle because she's lonely but at the same time she's nervous we'll take her wherever we took him. I kind of wish we HAD found him dead in the cage yesterday morning so that she could have seen him too and would have known what happened.
B and I grabbed dinner and drove around the Framingham area looking at a few houses that looked promising online (we're going to look inside 2 of them once our broker coordinates things). I know they don't have a good school system but at this point its the last of my worries . . . even if B and I decided to have kids 2 months from now (which really ISN'T going to happen) the school thing wouldn't be an issue for over 5 years. We're going to also continue to look in the north of Boston area (Medford, Malden, Melrose, Stoneham). Who knows, perhaps something will work out this weekend.
I just want things to get back to 'normal', whatever that is. If I'm not too dead tired tonight after class we'll be going to the VNV Nation show at ManRay and I'd like to also try and go to coffee tomorrow. I really want to see my friends.
And I need to get to the beach soon - perhaps this weekend B and I can take a drive to Hampton after Max's evening insulin shot.
I'm tired :/

Date: 2002-04-17 09:09 am (UTC)framingham's a really gret town. it's far away from everything, but the cost of living isn't quite as extraordinary as everywhere else in mass.
Yup
