JD Thank You, May 2010
May. 13th, 2010 06:26 amThere was a time when Brian collected various arms and armor, and I gifted him with such things along with hardcover coffee table books about these subjects. I'd pick them up at Barnes and Noble and Borders in the clearance shelves and over time we grew our collection of strange titles about swords, The Samurai, the supernatural and historical torture.
Since then they have sat on a shelf in our dining room, and since our nephew is becoming a voracious reader (mostly weird non-fiction), Brian and I talked about giving these books to him at some point. I had completely forgotten about it until Mother's Day, when he found his own way to the bookshelf and started looking at them. He picked a bunch and by the end of the day had named the particular types of weaponry on our dining room walls, and then I came home to receive this thank you card yesterday afternoon. It literally brought a tear to my eye. He is such a great, smart, funny and apparently nerdy kid - I'm glad he has a strong karate background to protect himself from the taunts he may receive. I wonder, when will he find himself a good D&D group?
