I rented our snowshoes from REI for our March overnight at Mt. Cardigan. They don't rent poles - anyone have a good suggestion of where I could buy some cheap (i.e. not at REI), or borrow some? REI only rents poles with their ski stuff.

Thanks in advance. :)

A ski/snowboard store might have a barrel of cheap ski poles. Or rent just the poles if they have a rental service.
Heh, or you could go skiing and collect dropped poles from under a chair lift. ;) Or just pick up a stick or two once you're in the woods.
But honestly, the Black Diamond trekking poles that I picked up at REI have been wonderful, and come with baskets for use in snow. I haven't used poles when I've gone snowshoeing though, I was either on easy terrain or in thick brush where the poles would get in the way.

I have pair of ski poles kicking around that you could borrow, but just one pair for someone about my height on skis (I'm 5'6"). You are welcome to use them. Just let me know if you want me to find them or not.

Thank you for offering! That is very generous of you. :) I am going to end up borrowing from my brother and a friend I'll see in a week or so, after all.

And Happy Birthday!
