I never posted my decision about my health/fitness routine. I was able to freeze my gym membership until January (so that I won't have to pay and can't use it again until then) to see if I can work in workouts otherwise. If I *am* able to I can either continue to freeze my membership (they'll do 3 months at a time) or I can cancel. Or I can just go back.
I've been told that the Research Methods II class that I'll be taking in the spring is A LOT of work from all who have taken it. Basically, I'd be living in the library when I wasn't at work, in class or sleeping. No thank you! I want to get through this program as quickly as possible but I still want to have some semblance of a social life and sanity. So I may end up keeping my gym membership come January since I'll only be trecking my butt into Boston on one day (I could easily hit another library for research without driving into the Southie/Dorchester area).
B and I are planning tonight to hang around the house and watch some anime - my friend Melanie bought the Escaflowne movie at Walmart for around $16 (no kidding!) and we'll be borrowing it from her this weekend. Dumpster #2 should be delivered today and so this weekend we'll be throwing out the old chain link fence in the back of our yard, tons of yard waste (must go buy lawnmower, weedwacker, shovel, rake and huge clippers) and lots of trash in our basement. Oh yeah, and that old 1960's stainless oven that's currently sitting in our front hallway.
(hippy mode on)
Its really feeling like a home. Friends had suggested doing some kind of purification/banishing ritual on the house since there was such negativity in it before but I think the act of tearing down walls, ripping out carpets and appliances, re-wiring and painting EVERYTHING has served to do the same thing. I may however pick up some kind of candle or incense on my Salem trip this weekend. I think those kinds of things help us to get into a peaceful, clarifying state of mind and focus our energies to positivity.

I found it neat that some of the stuff I see in every "spell" is actually the same as what came from my Lithuanian herritage and is also seen from all over the world. Things like salt and bread being brought into the house. Or banging pots and pans at the doors to keep away bad spirits. Neat that it's all so similar.
Neat
Date: 2002-09-20 07:40 am (UTC)I have also a great book by Scott Cunningham (actually, I've never read a book by him that I didn't like) on "The Pagan Household" that's got some good information about cleansing, etc. I haven't read the thing in years however (and don't unfortunately have the time now I don't think to read it again).
