I'm feeling quite like Willy Loman right now. After working for that place for so long it really was a part of who I am. And I quite don't know what to do with myself.

I've been keeping busy though. I went to 1/2 of that HR sponsored transitional workshop yesterday (I had to skip the second 1/2 to go to school) and I'm going today from 9 - 5. It was neat at least to talk with other people who had been let go. All in all it seems like there were 15-20 of us but they'll be letting a lot more go in January. All of us were affiliated with Secure Horizons . . .

I have lots more to say but not the time to do it now since I need to make some tea, grab a muffin and head out the door for that HR thing. Tomorrow I'm hoping to send out some more resumes (I sent some out yesterday) and do more job searching. I'm also going to try and meet up with Melanie to get the lunchbag I forgot in the fridge, see her lovely son and and house and spend some time with her. I'm going to miss working next to my cube buddy.

I know things will get better, I know this may be a huge blessing in disquise. I just tend to like stability in my life and this isn't quite that stable.

Thank you all for your well wishes and offers to help. You have no idea how much this means to me.

I know stability is good (and I really prefer it, too), but there is something to be said for taking a week or two off for yourself. Do some sewing, visit friends, cook, read, and all that stuff. You have been given the time to do such a thing, so I think you should take advantage of it (plus, more time to do school without extra stress).

Just MHO. :)

Hmmm... Somehow I also missed your previous post about this. Sorry to hear how your week has turned out. No matter what the reasons, getting laid off is a quite a personal blow (it's happened to me once and I'm no rush to ever repeat it).

I'm glad you have a fairly decent severance package though. At least that's on bit of stress that gets reduced. It's odd how life works out sometimes, but I'm fairly certain that you will be able to turn it into a positive chance to change things around.

Good luck getting things stabalized and sorted out again.

"Death of a Salesman" quote! Truly you rock my little metallic-acid-washed-jean-jacketed world.

You get a big bear-hug tonight. B. gets a manly hug.
And if there is anything at all I can do to help...
