I had a wonderful time at dance class last night. Its a good sized group so everyone has enough room (which was important yesterday since we did veil work) and the teacher that I haven't worked with, Karen/Karema is wonderful. If anyone wants to see three of the main Goddesses shake their stuff they'll be at the Middle East Restaurant this week (at 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30).
They did announce that they are doing their annual student show again this year in late June and that any of us can be in the beginner dance if we take the next class session to prepare!
The number is pretty simple, they performed it last year and practice to the song quite often in class (I actually played it for Goat last week during my massage, the 'sea anemone' song). I would have had pictures to show you all if B's camera battery wasn't dead that day (and he didn't bring any spares). The routine is a group number with all woman dancing as if they were a part of a sea anemone - the music is very beautiful. So if all goes well and the classes next session are not on a Wednesday night, yours truly will be shaking her stuff in a little white midriff top, gauzy white skirt and a watery-overskirt (like the ones in this picture: http://www.thegoddessdancing.com) in late June. The choreography was simple enough that I don't think doing this in addition to my grad class will be an issue.
So wow, I didn't expect that at all!
(next week we're working on shimmies - yay!)
