Where oh where did my weekend go? Or where or where can it be?

On Friday the cold made us decide to not go to Man Ray. We went to dinner, did some shopping and cuddled with some tea on the couch. The shopping craziness out in our area has already begun - note to self: stay away from route 9 whenever possible. :)

On Saturday we did sewing, homework, errands, a visit to Gram, dinner at the new Framingham http://www.fireflysbbq.com/ FINALLY (we got there just before the lines began) and then the benefit for http://www.aasranewengland.org/ .

Yesterday was a whirlwind day of shopping and talking with Nazier to http://www.swcantina.com/ (whee! Manchester Mike, you have to check this place out!) and to http://www.unicornbooks.org/ and to a few other various places. We ended the eve by getting our costumes together for tonight, doing tons of laundry and me getting some more homework done. I have to read this by Thursday and haven't started yet, still it should be interesting.

Heh, less than a month left of classes, whee!
A drum and dance circle tonight, whee!
The Empire Strikes Boston tonight, whee!
And I'm on vacation next week, quadruple whee!!!!

Have a great day all :)

I decided that the Padme Battle outfit I made will be a con/hall outfit, nothing fancy - nothing to compete or write home about.

As such I decided to not sew the trim into the liner that's about a foot up and goes horizontally around the whole inside of the coat. It would just be a pain in the ass, I should have sewn it on there BEFORE attaching the liner to the coat. You live and learn.

The trim isn't perfect either which is another reason I'm not killing myself on the thing - I'm not going to be winning any "most authentic" awards :)

I also didn't sew trim down the side of the pants. There wasn't time this weekend and again, I figured, who said I *have* to? Its rare that you'd even see the side seam of the pants.

So I'll have a mostly accurate costume for tonight (gun and belt with the Naboo royal crest thanks to Brian) too. I have to get into the thing after the drum and dance tonight, so those of you that will be there will get to see it (and those of you going to Ceremony will see it there).

My next sewing projects are both Xmas gifts and both will be MUCH simpler than this project. Yay!

****

I can say that I've learned a lot from this project. The pattern altering thing isn't as scary as I thought it would be, muslin is a godsend, I'd really like to get a dress form at some point, and I think each time I do something new things just get easier. I'm looking forward to when I'll have more time to work in sewing projects once school is done. I'd be totally cool with working on a difficult, anal and detailed costume if I had more than one day a month to work on it :)
