Sometimes something happens to turn me off of bellydancing. Then I go to class and think, "how the hell could I stop doing this?".
I really like the group I'm with and I love our teachers. I'm frustrated I think, because I can't devote the practice time I need to to the art to keep growing. I'm kind of stuck in a rut, but don't think I can do anything to get out of it until the semester is over. This one is the toughest ever and its really taking a lot out of me. The plan was to go to Ceremony last night to hear Bridget spin - right, like that was going to happen after going non-stop from 5:45 AM to 9:15 PM. Dammit!
After the semester is over I'll find a gym again - my body is really craving aerobic and weight-bearing exercise. Supplementing that with one or two dance classes a week would be a nice balance of exercise, art and meditation. One of these will be bellydance. I should be able to continue to study without getting sucked up into the "scene" or politics of it all. I'm determined, dammit!
On a music note, a woman at class last night danced to a really hauntingly pretty song with Lisa Gerard that's off of a new album - does anyone know what this album is? Thanks!
