The tour at the Gore Estate was lovely, and I'd like to go back at some point in the daytime so we can see better details of things and walk around the grounds. Our guide was really informative, and we even learned what a weird thing next to our front door is (the remains of an ancient doorbell - they had them at Gore Place too).

They lived with 14 servents, wow. I can't even imagine having one . . . aside from it being difficult for me to spend money its very hard for me to let people do things for me. Its like, you do things for yourself, you know? After the estate we hung out eating, some making apple "crisp" and then watched Nightmare Before Christmas. Post movie cleanup lead me to find the Tiggerette washing dishes in my kitchen. Her upbringing leads her to do wonderful things for people all of the time. My upbringing leads me to try and do everything myself, and makes me feel kind of weird finding people doing things for me.

Last night served to remind me that I'd really love to have friends over for a dinner party and REALLY actually cook for people. Xany commented about the crappy nutmeg in our spice cabinet last night . . . its really because it was bought on a spur of the moment "shit, we're making a pie and have 2 hours to do it, quick run to the supermarket" night. I can't WAIT till school is done, time to shop, time to experiment and time to eat with friends. This rushed, last minute ordering subs thing is for the birds! :)

Today is our productive day - a visit to Gram, a stop at Home Depot, perhaps a stop dropping off our "hazardous waste" at the facility in Lexington (an old propane can, old paint cans) and then Brian will busy himself with making a 'pineapple' for the end of his Gaffe stick and I'll do homework and laundry. We're going to a Halloween party tonight but in addition to prep for that (LOTR anyone?) need to put all of our Star Wars stuff out for tomorrow's parade. We have to be out of the house by 9:00 to go to Braintree, get Ashton, back to Waltham, meet up with the Fam, and head to Woburn (early) to assemble the float for a 1:00 parade. We'll be walking 3 miles down Main Street into Winchester and apparently 100k people (yes, THOUSAND) go to this parade.

And probably none of them will know who Mara Jade is :)

Neat!

My midterm draft is done. It turned out to be an 8 page (single spaced - but with double spacing between paragraphs) jobbie. He didn't suggest any kind of standard formatting and I think its easy to read this way, so that's how it will be. Of course, I'll need to re-read and tweak the thing . . . but the bulk of the work is done.

So now I'm going to shower, throw on some comfy pre-costume clothes and do my nails. My brother will be over at around 8:00 for us to gothify him with makeup (we've already leant him some stuff to wear). He'll be at the Horror Prom thing that Tony is DJing at.

This is Halloween, this is Halloween, Halloween! :)
