It was a nice weekend with the solstice celebration, alone time with Brian, ballet class, 2 Saturday parties (of like, 4, we were invited to - most importantly a 30th birthday party for a good friend I've known since I was 2 years old, which is why we didn't make it to the other Waltham party), time driving around/chatting/window shopping, and settling in for the first Sunday night that I didn't have to worry about going to class in two days. I'm really liking this.

I won't be at the drum and dance tonight (and, won't be going back to bellydance). As much as I think it would be fun and cool, its just not the kind of dancing I want to work on developing. That, and I'd like to have Monday nights free (if I'm not going to be free Tuesday nights and Saturday mornings). Tonight I'm making a ton of pizelles.

For those that haven't seen it, someone took a dig at the Tuesday night poly Boston crowd that meets up at Diesel: http://boston.craigslist.org/mis/52402753.html

Also, my research-fu is strong! I was able to find information for Brian on his funky-ass 1970's Christmas Tree topper (see bottom post): http://tk7602.livejournal.com/2004/12/19/

I can't believe that Saturday is Christmas! I can't wait to see Brian's face when opening his present pile. :) Peeps: (Feline, Tiamatlady and Deadwinter) - any chance you'll be at goffee this Thursday night?

It looks like Brian and I WON'T be going to Arisia this year after all. Why? The Saturday day rate is $35. Why is it worth $35? No musical act announced yet, no major guests. I don't need to pay $35 (then parking) to hang around with friends . . .

That amounts to over a dozen people paying $35, then the money to park, so that we can try and assist drawing interest in popular Sci-Fi media to the con and do some charity fund raising. I doubt we'd sell enough raffle tickets to even meet the cost we paid to get in (so at that rate, we could all pay our $35 and parking fees directly to the charity and make out better for it).

There is one person in our group that actually actively wants to go to Arisia. The others (including Brian and myself) were giving it a 'last ditch effort' kind of thing since its the only large Sci-Fi con in the Boston area (in the traditional sense of con, Megafest is really just a big vendor/celeb room). Hell, the Dragoncon day rate was less than that and will only be $30 next year! Supermegafest (again, not a traditional "con", but still) which had a ton of celebs and vendors was only $15 (and they didn't even charge 501st members to come in, since we were in costume, doing charity fundraising and our table was comped).

Have fun y'all! Unless something changes with that day rate (which I highly doubt it will) you won't be seeing us there.
