We finished painting our kitchen cabinets last night (save for some touch up that I'm sure it will need tonight) and Brian excitedly put new handles on all of the doors and drawers. Read more... )

Last Friday's Ballroom Bootcamp had a metalhead, surfer girl and a country boy learning the Rhumba. GOD, I love that dance! Its a challenge to be slow and sultry at the same time (I've always wanted to learn it). I disagree with the surfer girl winning - she just wasn't slow/sultry enough (was more bouncy - good for other Latin forms but not this one). It appears that the female teacher may also have a bun in the oven - her belly was looking a bit rounded (shows up more given her thin dancer legs). Related, they are teaching a Salsa class at my gym on Monday nights. I saw a bit of it when heading to the locker room after working out. I'm glad I didn't sign up. Its very much at beginner level and hence, there's not much body moving/pushing the body much to be had. I'd love to try that at some point too, at some point perhaps a group will get together for one of those nights in Somerville.

I reserved tix for Brian and I to see http://web.mit.edu/mtg/www/ on next Wednesday, 11/16. We won't have the funds (or time) to see the one man show, but I'm happy to support this local group (we saw them do a musical parody of ANH before and MAN was it funny)!

Want to join us? If so, reserve your own tix. The show is at 8, we'll probably have dinner in Central (The Asgard?) at around 6ish or so.

Going to vote after work (rather than before) results in no wait time. Granted, this isn't a National election, but still.

On our ballot we had options for School Committee (pick 3), Councilor at Large (pick 6) and City Councilor (only 1 - the same guy that's been doing it for years, would would get my vote anyway). The http://www.communitypreservation.org/index.cfm was also on the ballot again (was voted down in 2001. We'll see tomorrow how it all pans out.

I met a candidate for State Representative on the way home who was greeting voters, thanking them for performing their civic duty. He seems like an interesting guy http://www.tobyfisher.org/ (background in Social work and emphasizing health care and education). Definitely something to keep my eye on. Our current State Rep (imo) has served us well, but he's considering the Middlesex County DA position.

Its still weird going to vote in the basement of my old elementary school. Still, its a nice walk over there from the house. It gives me a chance to enjoy the fall air, look around, and remember how much I love being here.
