Leia ANH, version 3
Jan. 4th, 2007 11:46 amI'm hoping that once our den situation is finished I can start working on my Leia dress (maybe after Arisia?). There were a few inaccuracies with the ones I've had, and I'd like this one to be as perfect as it can be. I've been spending time reading boards and printing things out, bookmarking sites, etc.
I guess I feel better knowing that most people have issues with the hairdo like I do. I also don't feel bad about my frustration with a lack of good ready to wear boots. Man, I wish I knew what those things were that she wore!
Post Leia, I want to start working on some kind of an Edwardian or Victorian outfit because my closet is lacking one. It will match the fabulous hat I have. Maybe it will be Mary Poppins esque (hence, the Edwardian thing). And I will use my dress form for it. Baby steps and all, but I'm excited about it.

Its official. I'll be reprising my Cantina dance, this time with a modified (less accurate) costume at Arisia. After the student show in the summer of 2005 Brian and I decided to toss the one I wore for that performance, assuming I'd never wear it again. Heh! I'll be with the group performing on that Saturday night in some smallish room at 5:00 PM.
I need to watch the video a couple of times to refresh my memory of the choreograpy (its really simple, a lot of it Charlston inspired) and I'll need to make a new cut of the song, since Brian deleted my old one.
I totally threw this costume together tonight - its amazing the stuff you can find at TJ Maxx and Target when you really need to be creative! :) I had my old veil, a gold coin belt and some arm bracelets. Throw in a gold bathing suit top, burgandy velvet yoga pants and a "chain" for my neck (a scarily similar belt on clearance for $9) and you have a more modern version of Slave Leia. :)
