We need more wranglers for the Boston St. Patrick's Day parade on Sunday 3/14. What this would require would be meeting up in the morning (by 10) for breakfast and social tailgating before the troopers get suited up and positioned in their starting spot.

The parade is 4 miles long, and we never know where we will be in the lineup. The parade steps off at 1:00 PM, and there are many groups participating, so what this can mean is that we start walking at 1:30, or we start walking at 3:00. This means a lot of time standing around in the (usual) extreme cold with no bathroom. We are usually done with the parade by 4:00 PM and have rented a school bus to transport us all back to the starting point of the parade.

What is a wrangler? They help keep the troopers in line and safe, since we have limited mobility and visibility in these costumes. They let them know where the big piles of horse poop are so that they can walk around it. They protect Darth Vader from being mauled by a bunch of drunk teenagers when he doesn't want to be. They pick up spare armor parts that fall off, and help tape them back on. They assist in the rare trooper comfort or medical issue, assisting a trooper in getting out of line and into our vehicle for safe transport to the end. Last year, I even took a trooper out of line and up to a stranger's apartment so that he could use their bathroom.

The St. Patrick's Day parade is one of our craziest, longest, biggest troops and is definitely something to experience from close up if this is your kind of thing. If you are interested, please fill out our wrangler form at
https://spreadsheets.google.com/viewform?hl=en&formkey=dDRTdmJ2WVhnYmxPZkFWQ09qaGNURkE6MA . If you don't have access to the NEG site please comment here - I'll need to give you instructions on where to meet us.

Thanks peeps! :)
