It's my 5th time pumping today. I tried this morning to feed Mina from the breast and lazy lazy. It's what I expected: she didn't get much sleep last night or naps in today.
I did pump much less than the # of feedings. A way to slowly wean? Going a few hours between, it seems to take me around a half hour to empty at 4 ozs per feeding. This stuff should be safe/balanced/easy for her to drink. I'm getting into a routine: a 2-feeding-8 oz pump only took me 45 minutes tonight (an hour last night).
It will be bottles tonight - easier for us and better for her sleep deprived and milk imbalance belly. Brian wants to stick with formula tonight so that we can rid her of the lactose intolerance type symptoms and start from square 1. The pumped milk i gave her today was fine, but she got gassy at night. I wonder how long after eating it would effect her. In addition to pumping till I think I'm 'empty' (you're never totally empty), we'll want to go by what the milk looks like too (visible separated fat, color, thickness). I wish there was more of a science to this.
Tomorrow I'll try and feed from the breast again. I know she does it well now if rested. This is the hardest thing to get done (get her sleeping). :/
We went to the childcare center today to get some paperwork and drop some things off. She'll go in next Friday, and start the 4-day routine on Tuesday 4/10. So strange! Brian and I will have the day together next Friday. What to do? I did find out that my Dad's cousin works there, so without intending to, family will be caring for our little girl.
So strange that she's almost 3 months old!
