More car fun
Jun. 19th, 2001 08:44 amSo tonight B and I are going car shopping. My check engine light went on this morning and I stopped by the mechanic's (i.e. the good guy I normally bring my car to) to see if they could take a look at it today.
I told him what they fixed at the Ford Dealer last week and he said "that part has NOTHING to do with the antifreeze". They are swamped today so tomorrow I'll be leaving the car for them to shut off the check engine light (and make sure the car is still safe to drive).
I'd like a Subaru Forester though I don't know much about them and wasn't planning on spending that much $ (actually, I wasn't planning on spending any $ on a new car, grrrr). Dodge Stratus is another option and of course there is good ole reliable (and cheap) Saturn.
We shall see. I guess its good that B is selling his stock options this week (the little bit that he has). And now I'm off to check Edmunds.com (great, great car site).

Date: 2001-06-19 09:26 am (UTC)We had to retire the subaru (Poor Bucky-- named for Buckaroo Bonzai because they are both half-Japanese, half-American :) ) and I inheirated a toyota corolla... not a bad car but it didn't have any really strong good karma... but if you're stuck for something reasonable its not bad...
It was totaled on halloween-- and now I've got a saturn. Whatever you do, get the traction control. I wish mine had it but I got a used one and trying to find a used saturn with traction control in the south is impossible. Overall I'm happy with it and they have a new SUV type of Forrester-type coming out you may want to look into.
Currently driving: 97 Saturn SL2 with the alloy wheels :) Silver with gray interior.
Dream car: 2000 LL Bean Limited Edition Subaru Outback :) They're only 30k :)
