My tolerance for dumb pain astounds me. I stub my toe and it hurts for what seems like hours. I do something serious, it hurts for a bit and I just bear it to the point where I think of it as "normal".
This weekend when getting off of the bus that drove us from the Ren Faire to our car some dummy behind me stepped on the back of my chinese slipper, causing it to slide off my foot. In my efforts to keep the thing on the front part of my foot I slipped on my heels down both bus steps and almost landed on my butt, smashing my head on the bus floor. But what should come into play but (DAH DAH DAH DAH) dancer's coordination and balance - somehow my right arm shot up and grabbed the handle right inside the door to catch my fall.
The only problem was, I was wearing a highly boned bodice that was already too tight and I SLAMMED my side into said metal handle. Brian said it made an interesting noise on impact.
I've established that the pain I have isn't a muscular thing. After talking with the nurses that attend my weekly Thursday meeting they are thinking its either a hairline fracture or bruising of my ribs. Either way, there isn't anything to make it feel better other than time. They asked that I call my doctor or head to the ER if things get really painful when I breathe (right now it only hurts if I bend a particular way or put pressure in one general area).
I'm really talented sometimes :)

Sort of related on the pain note - I've been brainstorming for another tattoo idea and not having luck thinking of a design. I know what the general theme I would like is, I have a couple ideas of where I'd want it. Now I just need the concept for a design.
