The guido transformation has begun. I can't believe I did this.

No, its not a Virgin Mary in a bathtub, but a patio type area that we made with white gravel and a black wrought-iron like edging. We decided to put the outdoor fireplace that A&T bought a while ago and since left with us (since they can't use it at their apartment) in that space and set up a little 'sit around the fire' area.

Here's an old pic, next to the garage you can see the chain link fence that was an old dog run (it ran the complete width of the yard and had about 15 feet of land behind it.

The shed is there too - there was a door to the right of the shed in the fence to get into the dog run. Last fall we ripped down the fence. This spring we ripped down the shed. The raised platform that was the shed foundation now serves for a patio area w/ our white plastic set (it just needs some concrete paint to cover up the oil stains (we haven't been able to do this since its been raining). Next to the foundation (where the dog run door was) was really yucky - nothing had been allowed to grow there because there had been some odd patio stones there in its place.

And now, I call it "Guido's revenge" - my Aunt Mary would be proud :) :

Our yard is looking less like butt. I like this.

Future yard plans will include ripping out the bushes in the front of the house via attaching a chain to B's truck and PULLING THEM OUT BY DRIVING OVER THE LAWN. That rocks. We'll plant some new things with the help of my cousin the landscaper and if we're adventurous, deal with fixing that part of the lawn in the fall (he's suggesting ripping it all out, leveling, and using sod). We also need to patch the brick in our front porch at some point - fun with newbie masonry!

Its slowly coming along but its worlds better.

Seems your into yard pretty-ing (thats the term weve come to use) anyways, heres a lovely idea you might want to try. We take old blue glass bottles, or new ones.. arizona ginsing tea makes them as does bawls guarana, and we drink them, of course :) then recap them and bury them upside down as a boarder for flowers, vegetable gardens pathways anything you want, they are so pretty, especially in a sunny area. You can plant them flush with the yard or leave a bit up to control any regroath. I think youd love the effect and the actual usefullness of it! When the sun hits the colorful bottles its spectacular!
