After some calm time yesterday which I really needed I've decided to stay put for the time being. We went to Ceremony to see the last Scissorkiss show for now before Liz heads off to Grad School and I had a reading done with Sara . . . it also said I should hold on until winter. It also said I narrowly averted a major disaster recently, hmm. That and that I haven't been true to myself. Duh.

I'm hoping this week will be calm, productive and filled with friends. Its been too long (not really, but it feels that way).

We have a living room again, its one of the things that made me feel so good yesterday (in addition to being able to read for hours and finish the new Harry Potter book). This week we'll be working on odds and ends like final staining, painting, cleaning and then next week we should have our kitchen completed after the plumber comes to hook in the stove, sink, dishwasher and our water filter that's in the fridge.

Its freaky, it doesn't look like our house, it seems HUGE. Soon we can go shopping for bar stools for the breakfast bar and for silly things to put on the walls and above the cabinets :)

Busy Week

Sounds like a very busy week for you with a lot on the horizon for the future.

Glad to hear your house is coming along...is it a restoration of the interior? I'm a bit of a fanatic for that type of thing...love home decor and restoration, but live in too modern (traditional colonial style) of a home to enjoy it interior-wise. My dream home is listed in my latest post (gotta love those gothic revival's and queen anne's!). *grin*

Enjoy the HP book...I've heard good things, but have yet to tackle it myself, as my Summer reads are stacked, and I"m running out of time before the busy Fall Season get's under way. ;)

Yup. We bought the house last summer and were told it was built in 1917. It was advertised as a "Colonial" but it doesn't look like any of the traditional Colonial styles. At some point I need to do some research to figure out what it is.

The wiring in the house was all original knob and tube (not safe, not grounded, insulated in cloth) so last year we gutted all walls except the kitchen, rewired the house and put up new walls and painted. This summer we did the kitchen (which is what we're finishing up now).

You can see pics (there are bunches) here:

When we ripped open the kitchen walls we found newspapers in there from 1893 . . . so its looking like our house is older than the town originally thought. I need to take a day off of work to head into the Registry of Deeds in Boston and trace back to when the place was built to confirm it. The house across the street looks EXACTLY like ours, same shape, same room placement . . . and the owner there found it to be build in 1880 or so. So its a mystery :)
