Wow, DragonCon was so much fun. Once they are organized I'll post lots of links with pictures. I won't be reading back to past LJ friend's entries, just too much stuff to deal with, so please let me know if there's something I should know :)

In a nutshell (not fixing any typos because its just too much work):

Thursday we arrived. There wasn't too much going on but we did get to orient ourselves with the two hotels and check out The Lost Boys, a really great and funny rennie/rock band: http://www.karmalingo.com/Lostboys/LostboysPages/LostBoysOpeningPage.htm

On Friday we dressed like Gendo Ikari and Misato Katsuragi from Neon Genesis Evangelion for the first few hours of the day. We started off with James Marsters *drool*, then after changing (man there were very few anime people at the con) headed to the http://www.crossedswords.biz/ demonstration. It was neat to see how "fluff" swordplay is done in movies. We checked out the exhibitor's room, the dealer's room, and a Star Wars prop building panel which was great! We killed time with some "Whose Line is it Anyway" in the British TV track room, it wasn't too bad. The eve was concluded with watching Voltaire's soundcheck, only to run to line up for "The Buffy Horror Picture Show" aka a showing of "Once More With Feeling" performed with a cast RHPS style. One of the chicks a few rows in front of me didn't get the AP part of the whole experience - she yelled back something about me being a bitch when I made some kind of AP line about Willow telling her to shut up because she couldn't sing. :) After the eve events there was a DJ playing techno-y stuff . . . we made our way in there after I changed into the PVC and we hung around in the hallways a bit for friends and pictures. It was pretty unenthusing, the music just wasn't grabbing me. We had initial plans of dancing till dawn but retired to the room early due to lack of excitement (our 2 friends that we knew in the whole con seemed to do the same).

Saturday was the crazy day - we dressed as Anakin and Padme (Battle Uniform) in the morning and walked with the Rebel Legion people in the parade. MAN were the good guys outnumbered by the Empirial Forces! It was neat that there wasn't any duplication at all between Padmes, we got a neat pic with all of us together before the parade started walking. After that we grabbed food and poked around in the Artists Room before seeing a panel on Cheesecake/Pinup art (with Joe Linsner, man I love Dawn). After heading to the Dealer's room again so that Brian could buy an excessive but cool lightsaber for $250, we changed out of our stuff and headed to the Star Wars Costume contest - 60 contestents (last year there were 20), wow! From there we grabbed dinner and then changed (or at least, I did again - wore the leather corset and red skirt w/ dragon on it) for the Dawn Costume Contest. They weren't allowing any photos in here or afterwards for a while . . . I'm hoping some official ones will end up on the DC or Linsner websites. There were so many lovely and creative women in one room, though we also met a skeezy guy dressed like Super Mario Bros. Mario that was sweaty (ick) and falling over himself to take pictures of any woman with a cleavage or short skirt. By this point my cold had gotten to me, me and B made our way to our room and I ended up in bed early. He ventured out to check out James' Marster's band "Ghost of the Robot", who he wasn't impressed with. By this point it was almost 2:00 AM I think and the Cruxshadows still hadn't gone on. We passed on them since we had seen them before and were sorely needing some rest after getting up so damn early for the parade.

Sunday was our last day to do stuff since we left so early today for the airport. It was low-key costume day; we were Gabe and Kara from Penny Arcade. At 11:30 we made our way to the "Evolution of the Jedi Costume" panel which was then followed by a 2 hour costuming workshop. I have to say, that the Star Wars Panel People (i.e. "Matters of the Force") were wonderful. They were the best events we went to, were informative, organized, and it was nice to see how supportive the little Star Wars costuming community can be. Brian geeked out with people about Storm Trooper armor, leatherworking and jedi robes and I hung out around a woman who was going over pattern drafting and altering. I'm really looking forward to my 1 day a month of sewing - I think I owe it to myself to give me the time to continue with it, despite being back in school again as of tomorrow.

Sunday night we poked around some more, checked out the Miss Klingon pagent which was a lot of fun (we needed something to do and this sounded intriguing - we're not trekkies but it was still really neat). After dinner and taking pix of people in funky costumes we headed down to the Masquerade (it was a few blocks away from the hotel, not a bad walk at all). WOW, I'm totally amazed. It was really entertaining, neat to see a good mix of stuff, and I agreed totally with the judge's votes. We got great seats, and the timing worked out well enough for us to get back to the hotel so I could change into my Catholic School girl outfit for Rocky Horror. We got there to find that Voltaire showed up really late (suprise), meaning that Godhead went on really late (suprise), meaning that Rocky Horror was going to start late. We really enjoyed Godhead however, and felt bad for them for the RHPS fans that kept yelling at them to get off the stage due to their impatience. Once the Lips Down on Dixie Cast did get a hold of the stage it took them fricken forever to set up (who knows, could have been hotel issues, it still wasn't fun waiting though). The cast was great, fun to watch, lots and LOTS of props, not bad costumes or performers (though honestly, I was spending more time doing the AP thing than paying attention to performers). We got out of there closer to 4:00 and after putting on more comfy clothes to hang our in the DJ room, and then our hotel room . . . we stayed up until our departure time of around 7:30 AM this morning.

So I'm a bit sleepy (heh, yeah). B and I have kept ourseles awake so we can go to bed at a normal time and not throw off our whole schedules. We've got lots of laundry to do, some cool finds to put away (he the saber, some DVDs and some MegaTokyo stuff - me a neat leather covered mug for faire, a Dawn babydoll T and a bellydance belt and necklace). We'll have tomorrow to get back to the normal world of not seeing storm troopers or Jedis all over the place and I'll head out to class from Framingham to start off the semester. A 3 day work week is never a bad thing!

I'm seeing a lot of complaints about the bands, mostly sound. I'm a bit surprised, since everything went like clockwork when I went, I was very pleasantly surprised, every panel I went to started on time, and the concert night (Saturday) was prompt and really good. Hmmmm.

*hugs* We missed you, I can't wait to hear all the stories and see the pictures, especially your Padme outfit.
