My Gram hasn't been having a good couple of weeks. My sister and I were going to make "italian cookies" (a recipie she's been making for years, plain braided cookies) with her on Saturday morning but she just wasn't up for it. She hasn't been looking good lately at all.
I was e-mailing with my sister and asked if she seemed better this week. I'm going to drop in to visit on Saturday and hope that B will come with me this time. For some reason last week's visit struck something different in me. I really need to make an effort to get over there at least once a week from now on. I always say I'm going to do it - I really NEED to now though. I just know it.
Of course, my sister kind of confirmed what I'm thinking:
> Dad just got back from seeing her - he said she is not
> complaining much today which is not like her. Her eyes are
> fading - she does not have much time left in my opinion.
My parents and sister live on the same street as Gram so my sis sees her almost every day. My Dad makes it down there once a week. I don't think my Mom goes really. Not sure about my brother.
My poor Gram. She was always such an active and alive woman and its very hard to see her like this. She's not seriously ill, she's just got a lot of small annoyances that make life difficult due to her age (she's 87, but still lives by herself and takes care of herself).
She's one very special lady - here's a pic of her and my Papa on their wedding day:

I hope I can make those cookies with her at some point soon.
