So last night we bought our plane tickets for NOLA. I can't wait! Does anyone have suggestions of places that we should absolutely go to?

*************

I've started a new analysis on differential fee schedules . . . some of our Medicare + Choice (Senior Citizen) contracts with providers are based on Commercial HMO contracts. The thing is, when changes are made to the Commercial rates (if increases are added) no look has been taken to see how it would impact our Medicare product. I'll be looking at past increases and comparing it to real cost history to try and explain cost increases for this year and forecast increases for next year.

Now calm down, I know you're excited by all of this just don't get too out of control!

*************

I talked with Professor London (the Sociology guy) finally this morning and am meeting him after work in a couple of weeks. He told me that he "really sees no reason why I wouldn't get into the Applied Sociology program since it would be a great fit for me" and that he and the old program director and founder go way back and that they "like to admit Simmons students because they know a lot about the experience that Sociology students get here". We're going to discuss the program a bit, other similar programs around Boston and just life in general. And I need to bring with me the recommendation letter form so that I can leave that with him. I still haven't heard back from the Psych Department (though I'm not surprised, they were always a bit scatterbrained). I guess worst case scenario, I could get two letters or recommendation from people at work and then the one academic one from Professor London. Grrrr, still not looking forward to that GRE or MAT but I'm going to study a bit this weekend and try to set a date to take the test(s).

*************

So what are people up to this weekend? I'm looking for something to amuse me tonight, tomorrow and tomorrow night but still don't think I'm up for the smokey club atmosphere.

We're going to Jordan's party on Saturday. If you know Jordan, I could write to her and see if you could come along. Sunday, we're going to see the gallery exhibit at Zero Church St. It's a photography exhibit with work from Deravyn (Larry) & Denise Cicuto. (among others, but those are the scenesters in it).

In NOLA, do not miss Lafayette or St. Louis #1 cemetaries, Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop as the best place on Bourbon to have an atmospheric drink (you two can order juice or something - but you have to go there, it's so pretty). taking a dollar ride on the streetcar through the Garden District. The Audubon Zoo, if you like that sorta of thing - it's great. Also, if you like animals, an alligator/swamp tour rocks. And if you have a rental car, go see a plantation. All standard touristy stuff there, but I can say I really enjoyed each one. The gator tour is a bit cheesy, but I found it to be a blast. Also, the really hokey cemetary tours are sorta fun and educational, plus you get cool toys like a skeleton keychain!
