*Snuggles*

I guess if there's one thing the cold is good for, its inducing snuggles. B drove in to work with me today and I didn't want to let him out of the car. I so much would have loved to stay in bed with he and the cat this morning.
Parking at Arisia, Ceremony and weak muscles:
My boss said I can have Friday off despite us having a Harvard Pilgrim related meeting. We're going to sleep late, hang out together, get our stuff together for Arisia and then head over there early to register. Does anyone know of a place nearby the Park Plaza that's cheap to park? I know the hotel has a garage but I'm guessing its expensive. I don't want to walk too far in the cold. Hmm, if we didn't get there too early we could just find a metered spot and leave the car there for the night - Saturday though will be a different story.
We had a lot of fun at Ceremony last night (I passed on the cherry dress, it was too cold). My dancing was awkward I think because I haven't done enough of it lately. Climbing into bed in silk PJs and a sore body is always such a pleasant thing. I got to see some friends I hadn't seen in a while, and also meet a couple of new people (one LJ friend and one Netgoth person that's trying to book Waltham for a benefit show to bring more affordable housing in Waltham). I'm going to contact the band about it, though she's already in contact with their booking agent and had contact with some band member though I'm not sure who. I don't think she's going to get a confirmation this early for a show in July - they want to keep their summer tour options open I'm guessing. I told her that she'd have to find a big venue; the last couple of shows at the Skellig filled the bar and the back room to legal capacity.
I pulled my right-side shoulder/neck muscle AGAIN (I had done it last week too). This is a reminder that I need to start lifting again; without it my upper body gets too weak and I end up really prone to sleeping on my neck the wrong way or pulling things when I get out of the shower and try to towel off my hair. Ouch! :/

Date: 2004-01-13 07:03 am (UTC)We won't be staying overnight so we don't need to worry about overnight parking (we need to be home at 6:30 am to give our cat insulin, so we'll stay late Friday night, drive home, sleep a bit and then return on Saturday - I don't think we're going for any Sunday events).

Date: 2004-01-13 06:47 am (UTC)It gets cheaper the longer you park there.
rates
Parking
Date: 2004-01-13 07:06 am (UTC)Thanks! That was the only cheap(ish) place I'm aware of - in the cold with suitcases though its a bit of a walk. I'm thinking we'll just have to get butch about it though :)
Re: Parking
Date: 2004-01-13 07:27 am (UTC)I don't remember the exact details on the sticker rates, but you should ask at the Sales table.
Re: Parking
Date: 2004-01-13 07:39 am (UTC)NOTE: That the price for the book of stickers has risen this year Big suprise there, So the numbers mentioned below may not reflect the correct costs, but it should still be in this ballpark...
From 2003:
We will sell for $4 a sticker which you can attach to your Boston Common Parking Garage ticket. The sticker is good for $9 off your stay, but you can only use one sticker per stay. So by doing this, you save $5.
If you go out each morning before 10:00 and take your car out of the
garage, drive it around the block, and put it back in, you'll be
charged for only one day at a time instead of all three days together.
You'll have three tickets to attach stickers to. The rate at the garage is $9 per day, so by spending $12 at the sales table you'll avoid having to give the garage any money at all.
If you don't go out each morning, then the sticker will reduce your parking for the weekend from $27 to $18. Add in the $4 you spent on a ticket and you get $22 total cost for the weekend.

Date: 2004-01-13 06:58 am (UTC)the previously mentioned alewife method is the easiest and cheapest method i know, short of having a friend with a parking space you can use in the city. so, you could do a big drop off, and then shoot the car over to alewife, and come back on the T. more "annoying" but more peace of mind generally.
Pah-kin
Date: 2004-01-13 07:08 am (UTC)I don't think the Alewife thing will work - the T doesn't run late enough for us to get back there to our car. We can't sleep over at Arisia since he have a diabetic cat to shoot with insulin at 6:30 AM in Framingham :)
Friday night I'm sure we'll be fine - I just have to find a place where we could leave the car from 1 or so in the afternoon on Saturday until we leave the hotel early Sunday morning.
Thanks for the info on the vouchers!

Date: 2004-01-13 07:42 am (UTC)it is possible to get both an expired meter ticket _and_ an exceeded posted parking time ticket. oh yeah. a parking ticket costs $28 now. so unless you're parking in the financial district where all day garages crest over $30 a day, a ticket isn't worth blowing the budget.
just a little voice of experience. :(
meters
Date: 2004-01-13 09:11 am (UTC)Yep, I knew about this.
"also the meters run until 8pm now"
This I didn't know, yikes! Thanks for the warning :)
Maybe we won't get there so early - I was thinking a meter would be good Friday since it used to be only paid until 6 PM (and we wouldn't be staying overnight). Maybe we'll just get there later and feed a couple hours into the meter to get us until 8:00).
Or, get there earlier and pick one spot, then move it later after finding a place in the hotel to stash our stuff. Hmm.
"and also run on saturdays."
This I knew too. The joys of living in Boston! If only I still had Simmons friends that lived in the area :) I wouldn't be so worried about planning if it A) wasn't so cold or B) I didn't have to lug bags with costumes in them :)
Re: meters
Date: 2004-01-13 09:51 am (UTC)A) We're working on the weather control satelite, but the OS keeps freezing (damn MS windows...)
B) Have Brian drop you and the bags off at the Hotel, and he can park at the commons (or you could drop him off with the bags dpending on which of you is more sensitive to the temp)
Re: meters
Date: 2004-01-13 10:26 am (UTC)but that's what i was thinking... dropping bags off.
