Interesting
Apr. 2nd, 2004 11:16 amThere is a sign on our lawn.
Our house comes up on Realtor.com, the Coldwell Banker Site, and our Realtor's website.
None of these sites list that the open house is on Sunday though.
It also wasn't listed in the Friday pull-out real estate section of the Metrowest news (the listing isn't in the Metrowest News either).
Here's hoping the Open House info is updated before Sunday. Maybe a lot of people just grab the Sunday paper, check for open houses, and go from there? We've been working with a buyer's agent so he's sent stuff our way when its come up - I know that this isn't the normal case for buyers (from what I can tell, most go about it on their own or the approach a seller's broker to show them houses).
Here's hoping we get some people out.
Here's the listing on our realtor's site: here
He also just put up a listing for a house in Waltham that looks interesting. I know the electrical is old and the lot size is small. It also looks like its right next door to some business. The house is cute though. It says it only has 2 bedrooms (though, I'm not sure how that could be the case if its a 1700 sq foot house) - I e-mailed Ken for some information on it: here

Date: 2004-04-02 08:44 am (UTC)The one we live in now is around 1700 sq feet and has 7 rooms - this is advertised as having 6 (but with only two bedrooms). I'm wondering if it has a family room off the back or a really teeny bedroom that they can't call a bedroom. The listing isn't too detailed (and I can't find it anywhere other than our realtor's site).
Its dirt cheap for Waltham so there has to be something wrong with it. If its not nothing major though - it could be a good place for us. I'm hoping Ken replies to me soon :)

Date: 2004-04-02 08:35 am (UTC)Your house is beautiful, and, if it were in Quincy, I'd be working on buying it myself. Someone will want it, pretty soon.
*big hugs* Hang in there

Date: 2004-04-02 08:42 am (UTC)Their sign came down on Tuesday night! One day before ours was supposed to go up! I'm not sure if they sold or just gave up. They never put a "sold" note on top of their sign. I've been watching the real estate transactions in the paper and haven't seen theirs (I've been curious to see what it sold for). I'm going to have to ask Ken to look into it.
Yep, now we just need buyers :)
Brian joked about how it would be awesome if Ken ended up selling a house himself that we loved and so buying it would probably end up easier for us. Now he's got one listed that's really cute - there has to be something wrong with it if he's asking that price though. He's no dummy and knows Waltham real estate is at a prime. If its a 2 bedroom with a living room, dining room and den (which it seems it may be - being a 6 room house and all) and if there is finishable space in the basement we'd totally go for it.
I bet its near Moody too, squee! We shall see :)

Date: 2004-04-02 09:43 am (UTC)changed realtors... that would explain the sign coming down without a
'sold' or 'pending' sign on it."
But, they also appear to be moving out - cleaning up things, throwing masses of stuff away and having lots of trucks and vans in the yard. Its really weird.
I guess they could also be renting it out . . .
Heh
Date: 2004-04-02 09:47 am (UTC)Well, we're asking 60k more than the house that's for sale around the corner from us, and 40k more than the house across the street was listed at. Huge houses in our neighborhood don't go for much because well, its the ghetto.
Another realtor we called for a comparitive market analysis gave us 280k for a price.
My guess is that they are limited to what they can put in the description. I think the description makes it sound nice, the electricity will be listed as updated (circuits). Its not really the price or description I'm worried about as much as getting people to come look at it in our neighborhood (at its price). Time is on our side since we have nowhere to go so we figure, we can start high and go down if necessary.
