House looking, a nice dinner, a dead alternator and some cat piss for good measure!

We went to look at the West Newton house last night. It was cute, without getting chatty - we could see why it was only priced at $360k. Given that we don't have a buyer for our place, its not in Waltham, and there were some funky things about it we decided to pass on making an offer. We didn't end up looking at the North Waltham house; I guess it was under agreement already, then that fell through, then the seller decided not to sell. It was really underpriced, so I wonder if they're going to wait a bit and just get another realtor.

A few people called our realtor about our house with some interest in it, so he said we should have a "busy weekend". One guy was an artist, and was interested in if he could use a room there as a studio. Sure my realtor said! The high ceilings, large rooms and lighting definitely help. My guess is that he'd be excited about the colorful rooms and the paintings of my Dad's that are scattered around. Another person called, a broker, and asked "what is the basement like?". Our broker answered "uh, its a basement" - like, what are you supposed to say? The buyer's broker asked if it got flooding or anything and our realtor said he wasn't sure but didn't think so (we don't, btw). He told them that Brian was a big geek and had a computer running down there that "controlled the house", so he guessed water wasn't a problem. The buyer's broker seemed excited with that answer.

Then the good and the suck. After house looking we headed to Belmont to have nice dinner with Tiggerette and Developer - multiple course, with china, way overboard dinner :) They are way too good to us! After chatting for a while we headed out only to find my car dead! The battery was gone (though lights weren't left on or anything). After Developer so nicely gave us a jump, and we let it run a bit it completely died after I turned the lights out - alternator, great. AAA came to take it and towed it to Saturn, Developer and Tiggerette drove us back to Waltham, Brian drove us home in his truck, and he has the lovely task of driving me to and from work today (Framingham - Malden - Waltham in AM, Waltham - Malden - Framingham in PM).

And Brian joked: "You know how much easier this would be if we lived in Waltham?"

I have to call Saturn though they haven't answered the phone yet (despite supposedly opening a 1/2 hour ago). I had an appointment scheduled for Saturday so it looks like the car will be there a little earlier.

Oh yeah, and after the car fiasco we fell into bed, its around midnight and we're exhausted. We're talking about how the home selling/buying process will be stressful but we'll deal. The cat comes and snuggles with us and we get all schmoopy about him. And what does Max do? He pees on us! His litter box was dirtier than he liked and that was the only way he could tell us. Heh! We changed sheets, comforter, etc.

Tonight I want to have a nice dinner with Brian and just chill at home (while we spend the night washing sheets, blankets, mattress covers and comforters).

Thank God its Friday!

Sometimes a cat can really put things in perspective :)

Exactly. What did you two think you were doing, spending all this time for yourself and the house away from him? He is your lord and master, dammit. Take that!

Nothing like being peed into submission. :P

He is now part of my photography portfolio. Batty, too!

Yes, its a powerful weapon and he knows how to use it :)

Awesome! I'll have to check the specific pictures out.

Given everything we won't be out for South Parking, but I think we'll be making it to the Saints and Sinners Par-tay, so I'll see you there!
