I can tell that I have been numbed by the housing costs in boston when I think that under 700K for a 'castle' is actually a really good deal.

In other housing news, I can no longer even contemplate buying in the town that I grew up in -- although I feel no affinity for the place, mostly I like the lots sizes.

The house around the corner from my folks just went for 649K. It has one more downstairs room than my folk's place, and the guy bought it a few years ago and did a bunch of work on it (most notably he ripped all the trees out the front yard, which I think was a mistake!), but still, it is mind boggling that houses in tha neighborhood are now going for that much.
