Fun with dumpsters, work is progressing, Shrek 2 (no spoilers)

Last night after a stop at the pet store I singlehandedly threw A LOT of stuff into a dumpster. There was a monstrous metal file cabinet, some old kitchen cabinets, many heavy 5 gallon joint compound buckets filled with God knows what and some random heavy cubicle desktops left. These waited for Brian to get home since my arm still hasn't completely healed yet and I wasn't going to attempt to move these things by myself. I'm totally amazed, because save for the chewed wood around the bunny's house and the peed-on floor inside the bunny's house - the dumpster has all in it that we planned on throwing away and there is still room to spare.

Tonight we'll probably finish patching, and do a Home Depot run to get supplies for the bunny cage area repairs (a sheet of plywood and some wood to make trim with). After that's taken apart (we're waiting till the last minute - I'd prefer to let the buns enjoy their little home as long as possible) all that's left is touch-up paint in rooms where we took chunks out of the wall in the process of taking down artwork (and thus had to patch). Oh yeah - and final random packing. Freaky!

8 DAYS until the house is emptied, 9 days till we close.

Quote of the day:
"Successful people do what unsuccessful people dare not to." - Thomas Vilord

Brian got home and I switched to making dinner mode while he threw the heavy stuff out (mmmm, lemon-chicken stir fry). After dinner he continued to throw things away (God, Brian has a lot of crap) while I packed up things in the shed and threw some things away (a broken weed-wacker, rollerblades that Brian is never going to wear again, some landscaper fabric that we don't feel like moving). Outside work that remains will be mowing the lawn one last time, and some attempt at pulling out/cutting down large obvious weeds.

We finished our tasks for the evening around 8:00 somehow, and sat down to watch some VH1 and saw a bit of 'The Making of Shrek'. Since most of the components of the entertainment center are packed, to tune channels we have to scroll up and down using the button that's on the Cable box . . . hence, we've pretty much just been watching VH1 since that's the channel that's on there. I'm not a big TV watcher, so this is very odd. Anyway, though the mind was into going to Ceremony, the body (and lower back most importantly) was better off not dancing if I'm to get through the next couple of weeks. We were planning on waiting for Shrek 2 to come out on video because we've heard mixed reviews of it but after seeing a couple of scenes changed our mind. We rushed around to get out of the dirty work clothes and headed to the theater. That's one thing I'll miss - being within a 5 minute drive of a good AMC theater. And the Natick Mall, and Borders. It does make it convenient when we need something (but the inconvenience of our work and most of our friends being a distance away won the battle).

We really loved the movie and it was just what we needed. Most notably were references to Godzilla, Flashdance, and a cartoon version of the "bedroom eyes" that our cat Max gives to us when he really wants something. Also, I had no idea that Julie Andrews, John Cleese and Rupert Everett were in the movie either!

Hopefully today we'll find out A) where we are closing B) when we are closing and C) how $ from the Framingham close will get in a form to use at the Waltham close. My - its an exciting life we lead!

He was definitely my favorite. I squealed at that Flashdance scene - it it was pretty loud :)

don't know if you already know this or not, but Burlington is coming into its own - the mall is good (not AS nice as Natick, but very close), and there are several stores around there, plus an AMC theater that makes the short drive up 128 notsobad. Plus, Brian, Jay, and Nhan can play while the wifey-poos go shopping. :)

Damn, that's domestic.

When we lived in Waltham we were pretty much in the middle of Burlington and Natick our mood would decide where we went.

What Burlington's missing is a Borders (I like their cafe and feel much better than the massive Barnes and Noble) and a Hot Topic. The theater in Framingham is also way newer, and tends to have better sound and seating. But I'm not the picky one ;)

We're planning to rent a dumpster, too. I'm looking forward to it! Throwing stuff away is so cathartic.

I was on Moody Street last night (for a minute) I think for the first time in my life. It's funny, I've currently got some business going on in Waltham and I've driven around a couple times, like, Oh, ok, so this is what she means ;)

Glad you enjoyed the movie. I can't wait to do a Shrek double feature, no matter how often I see them they always manage to get me to chuckle (and the pinnochio underwear scene was just hilarious)

Uhm, no stadium seating. ie movie theater not so good. If I lived in Waltham, I would take the trip to framingham during christmas traffic before driving up Burlington. Then again I am a movie theater snob, and absolutely hate non-stadium seating.

Yes, we'll be living about 5 blocks from it. But - its not the kind of theater to show things like Shrek 2 when we decide on a whim on a Monday night to go :)

I'm not complaining at all - I was just commenting that its one thing that won't be so convenient after we move.

Actually the difference between the Kendall and the Embassy seems to be that the Embassy does actually book one or two 'hollywood' movies, and generally they are booked in thier 'large' room which while it isn't a stadium, it is pretty nice. We actually saw troy there.

Sometimes they have them - though there aren't many (for instance, no Shrek 2) ;)

Most movies at the Embassy don't interest Brian, though we've seen some real classics there (like Orgazmo, for instance).

And don't forget Secratary!

The other nice thing is that during the week they are pretty much empty, so shooting over for a quick artsy film is no biggie. Now I need more artsy films I really want to see.
