Nothing Like last minute!
Jun. 14th, 2004 01:30 pmWe were wondering how the smoke detectors got inspected, and how the water meter got its last reading. Ken neglected to tell us that WE were supposed to arrange these things. So today Brian and I went nuts to get them planned (arrangements that are usually made a week or two in advance). We can't sell our house unless these things happen.
Luckily the town is able to pull these things off tomorrow, phew! I had to go to the Fire Dept. and give them $25. Tomorrow after the water meter is read and the bill is drawn up we have to go to town hall and pay that in cash (usually bills are around $125 or so per quarter, I've got the cash in hand).
Today is final packing, patching, painting and that fun stuff. The movers arrive at 9:00 tomorrow. This will be our last night sleeping in this house, and its very, very strange.
I'll be much happier when all of this is over :) My nails are in desperate need of a manicure, my body is in desperate need of a shower, and my soul is in desperate need of a night out dancing or rocking out at a show . . .
IF YOU NEED US, our phone and internet connection is shut off tomorrow morning. The only way you'll be able to get us will be Brian's cell phone. If you don't have this number and think you'll need it let me know before the end of today. Otherwise, you'll have to get it from someone else that has it.

Date: 2004-06-14 10:50 am (UTC)Really? that boggles my mind. Every time I've sold a house, the realtor took care of all of those things. You ain't payin' them 5% to sit and look pretty.
Good thing you were able to schedule that!

Date: 2004-06-14 09:06 pm (UTC)Not that this is the time to start having bad feelings about Ken - you want buying the new house to feel like a good experience! But he seems to have been less communicative during most of the process than he should have, so perhaps a delicate post-mortem may help him (and his future clients), while helping you get things off your chest.

Date: 2004-06-14 11:43 am (UTC)I am home this afternoon as well, should you wanna drop anything off, OK?
Here's hoping that you, your nails, your body, and your soul can hang in there just a couple more days! ;)
Re: Tomorrow
Date: 2004-06-14 11:53 am (UTC)Thanks!
Its looking like we'll be heading over on Tuesday before dinner, but it will be late afternoon (3:00 or 4:00ish). Brian's cell if you need it is 781-696-1304.
If you guys want, I have $50 worth of Bertucci's gift certificates that someone gave us in exchange for our weight machine . . . we could do dinner that way if you don't feel like making something - please don't go our of your way for us (offering up your home for the night and for the pets the next day is a HUGE help) :)
The closing for Framingham will be at 9:00 in Cambridge, and the closing for Waltham will be at 1:00 in Norwood. Based on that, I'm guessing we'd be by between 2:30 or 3:00 to pick up Max and the buns on Wednesday (after the 2nd closing). . . is that OK? We can talk about it tomorrow either way :)
See you then! Whee :)
