Its been a nice weekend. Friday dinner and hanging with Friends. We picked up the Apples to Apples game finally - we need to get a group together to play soon.

Yesterday we made our way out to Mahoney's in Wayland and bought planing mix and some mulch. They were so helpful, and when I told one woman this was our first foray into planting things outside she said "Oh, well God bless you!" all excitedly. There were so many pretty plants that I can see how one could get addicted to this kind of thing. The rose bush is now planted, and we weeded and mulched our front yard. We ran short on mulch but that's OK, since there's one large spot with no plant that we want to get something for. In the process we met Jay, our regular mailman. The older I get the more and more I get like my dad, easily talking to strangers that pass by.

After cleaning up, Brian finally took pictures of the house (including pics of the new rose bush and mulched yard):

We then headed to my parent's house for the nephew's birthday party. Look! A Storm Trooper and Tie Fighter pilot showed up:

We suck and didn't make it to Curses, again. One of these days I'll get my ass out there. I do want to try and make it to Bottlerocket on Tuesday though, to hear Lady B's last spinning.

Have a great day all! I'm being taken to High Tea for a late birthday present :)

hmm, don't know why I didn't mention this before. I suggest everyone plant ROSE OF SHARON bushes. They can stay as bushes, or grow into trees, depending on how you prune 'em. They come colors of flowers -- white, peachypink, lavender pale pink, lavender pale blue. The colored ones have darker aerolas in the middle, and large, trumpet like flowers. Unfortunately they don't have scent, but they keep on keeping on with the PRODIGOUS flowers from mid-July to frost. They don't flower the first year as they get rooted, but after that, it's a joy. Best flowr bang for my buck. And they grow pretty fast too.
