My hubby is going to be so sexy:

Damn, he's got it as a friends only post . . . perhaps he'll post the pics on a website somewhere.
I'm hoping to finish the red surcoat tonight. Its all hemmed, and 1/2 of the gold trim is on. I just needs the rest of the trim (hand sewn) and the buttons. From there I'll move on to finishing the black surcoat. Brian has been making very good progress with my crown (when I'm done sewing it will probably be time for me to get beading the strands that hang off the crown).
The lovely Tiamatlady came over to see just how much luggage we'll have. She's offered to take us to Logan, but I'm not sure how everything will fit in her car. Once I'm done sewing I'm going to start packing to see how many suitcases we'll need.
The Mara Jade outfit is on the way, whee! I can't wait to see how that thing looks. I'm also getting a better belt for the Padme Battle outfit (the one I had was pretty crappy) from http://ashtonomicon.com/ - he's hand carving the Naboo Royal Crest out of leather for the buckle (the one I have now is a cloth belt, and the buckle was a piece of wood with the crest painted on). I'll have to alter my coat a bit so that there are openings at the waist for the belt to slide in - the belt is outside in the back, inside the coat in the front. I can't do that until I have the belt.
It will be a busy weekend - I have a wedding shower and christening party to go to. What's a creative cristening gift? I mean really, how many children's bibles, rosary beads and crosses can a kid have?

Date: 2004-08-17 06:00 am (UTC)I don't know how appropriate this is, but how about some sort of charitible something - a gift to an organization that does a lot of work with children in the kid's name, that sort of thing?

Date: 2004-08-17 06:45 am (UTC)a towel might be more imediately useful though.
Hmm
Date: 2004-08-17 07:17 am (UTC)A towel, just for general use? I've never seen anyone give one for a Christening before . . .
The donation idea is a good one I think. Thanks A!

Re: Hmm
Date: 2004-08-17 07:59 am (UTC)Oh my God, I can't believe I forgot about those. I had some (they sat in a box with my baby book - yeah, that was a useful gift. I wonder what the original purpose was? Maybe for use actually at the Christening?
"My mother would give small savings bonds."
I'm thinking this may be a good idea actually. I want to help them out financially a bit, but think its tacky to just give money at something like a Christening. Can I just get them at the bank? I've never actually bought one for myself!
