It was bittersweet. I'm excited for the show, and there is a great vibe going with the group. We started at around 6:30 and were out of there by 10 (even with great delays between numbers) so the show should only be about 2.5 hours long or so. It was fun hanging out with people I've known for so long, seeing Peggy's daughters from Tennessee, and sweating out my cold (working out could have gone either way, its seems to have helped push the symptoms along).
Though its weird being in such a small theater. We don't have a dressing room anymore (but will use a music classroom). There isn't a full orchestra in the pit below - we have a pianist in the corner. We don't have sets or different curtains or fancy lights. And we don't have Miss Peggy in the pit, pounding her palm on the stage to keep the beat for the conductor.
As at any community dance studio recital we'll have some numbers that will wow them, some that will be awkward, and some with little kids paying no attention to what they should be doing and making the audience laugh while they dance to the beat of their own drummer. We'll have the people that always need to stand up front and the people that hide in the back. We'll have people that take it all very seriously and those with a "whatever" attitude, just out there to have fun.
But we won't have you miss Peg - in body anyway. Your spirit will always be with us though, especially on stage Sunday night.
