My lazy husband needs to get up. I'm going to Mystic CT tomorrow with the fam (while Brian paints Fett stuff - he's on call and can't go far) so I want to have breakfast and go out for our fun Saturday errands (well not fun, but I'd like to get them over with). We need to hit the supermarket, pet store, CVS and target. I'd rather do this with someone else. After that the day is ours. But before that is breakfast! We picked up some breakfast sausages with BLUEBERRIES in them from Hannaford's meat department last week. I threw them in the freezer so they'd last until we were home to eat them. Perhaps I'll just cook everything up and wake him up with breakfast in bed or something. Blueberry sausages call for french toast or something but we're out of cinnammon now (need to hit Penszeys today if there is time) and I've been craving an omelet. Hmm. Later this weekend or perhaps Monday I'll make the tomato sauce and thanks to R's suggestion, some pumpkin soup.
Why is it that there are 50 billion things going on today? We'll be at Casa Wakefield later, so will see some of you there.
Megadeth was a lot of fun.
I love seeing Dave, and think he's such a great entertainer. He seemed heaviest on the political songs last night (I mean, they've got a lot of political songs, but he seemed to make an effort to include them all in the set) - Brian commented "Gee, I wonder why" ;). If its one thing that benefits us having a Bush in the office its the music that's inspired in Dave Mustaine (it doesn't make up for it of course, but it helps)! There was a heavy focus on the new album which is fine by me - I love it (despite newer work from other old bands that I liked).
I do have to admit that seeing them at Avalon was a better show (duh) but I think Harborlights was the next best that could come. I think my favorite part of the whole show is toward the end when Dave gets warm and either takes off or opens up his shirt. Yay for sexy, pasty, long haired sweaty men that are in guitar-player shape (I've never been one for the huge muscles but prefer a smaller toned guy)! You could definitely tell the hardcore Megadeth fans from the others, they were the ones spastically doing air guitar, air drums, crazy headbanging, or swaying side to side with their arms around each other in that "I love you Man" sort of way (it was weird, there were a bunch of these - including people walking up and down the center aisle high fiving people and shaking hands).
Dream Theater was eh. I've never been a fan, but something was off last night because I enjoyed them quite a bit last year seeing them at the same venue with Queensryche. It was just weird paring them with Megadeth since rabid fans were there to see one or the other (and could care less about the other headliner). It stinks, because later in the tour the bill changes and Anthrax takes Dream Theater's place (I'd love to see them - never had the chance to). Fear Factory was unoffensive (but again, I'm not a fan myself). The first 2 bands we both actively didn't like. It was cool running into some of Brian's old Everett friends again - things are kind of coming full circle for him (like my life seemed to 2 years ago when I started going to Waltham shows on a regular basis). I think its good at an appropriate time to look back on where you came from and truly understand how it fits into who you are now.
Quotes of the night:
-Me: "It fills me with such glee to see all of these people in their metal t-shirts! Its like a big family reunion or something!"
-Brian: he said something really clever that made me laugh a lot and should really be a .sig file. Of course I can't remember it now. Brian?

as for the Anthrax/Megadeth billing - that's SWEET... too bad it's probably not in my area. :/

Date: 2005-08-30 11:56 am (UTC)I really like the venue actually - an open air, on the water place with good views from any seat and excellent sound.
I'm just not a fan of Fear Factory. :) They were unoffensive though (as opposed to the first 2 bands which I really didn't like.
